Your mentor's Duncan's dead son. Accept it.

I'm fine with people saying he's
Alistair's mentor, but really, if the PC has a grey warden mentor,
wouldn't be Alistair?
Tis what Duncan's sword says, to be
fair. "This sword carries a lot of memories of Duncan, your grey warden
mentor", or somesuch. I suppose he's your
mentor in that time it takes to travel to Ostagar in the same way
Obi-Wan Kenobi is Luke Skywalker's Jedi Master in that time it takes to
travel to the Death Star. Not long, but still significant.
Yea, it says that, but I don't buy it.
At least in Star Wars, we saw Luke and Ben spend time together - saw him teach Luke things. I know it's not a 20 minute trip to Ostagar, but everything we learn about grey wardens during that game - the dreams, sensing the darkspawn,, etc - it all comes from Alistair or Flemeth or Riordan. What, exactly, can we assume Duncan taught us during that trip?
Even a cutscene or codex entry mentioning things Duncan told us would placate me here somewhat, but we get none of that, and are expected to accept that this guy we hardly saw was out mentor and meant a lot to us. To some, maybe that's enough. To me, it's far from enough.
