as you can see , on the right of Sheppards face there is a blur off, what would be causing this? This isn't the only place it happens. Is this normal?

you should be able to run it fine. I've never seen that glitch before however. DO you have the patch installed? Only thing I can think of is it might be a driver issue.

You actually have 1GB video ram, haven't 2 cards doesn't mean double ram.
Whats settings are you using for the game. Sometimes disbaling Film Effect can fix this problem.
make sure your not uding 196.75 drivers, use older version. Also try with one card, and see if this happens.

yup i have the patch installed.
as for not having 2 gigs of video ram.. according to dxdiag which i just ran it says "DirectX Diagnostic Tool" Approx. total Memory 2288 MB .
I also have the film effect in the game disabled. but everything else turned on. and i run the game at 1680 x 1050 .
as for driver version number it is : 7.15.11.8130 at lest that is what the device manager window says. They are the dell supplied drivers.

Oh its a dell system, well dont use there drivers. go directly to nvidia.
Even though tools says 2288mb, your cards are only using 1GB ram.
In SLI mode, each graphics card uses its own frame buffer memory to render a 3D application. The operating system will report a graphics card frame buffer memory size that is found on a single graphics board.

Kalec, thanks for the tip on the drivers.
As for the 2 gig vs 1 gig :
What is sad is that I have been messing with computers since the mid-1990's . i normally build my own, but with the deal I got on this XPS 630i , i decided to just have dell build it this time. but the sad part isn't that I had dell build it. the sad part is that I didn't know that i was only using 1 gig of memory. i figured that the first card has 1 gig of memory and the 2nd card has 1 gig of memory, so therefor .. i have 2 gigs of memory.
i guess time for a series of dumb questions:
hopefully you will be kind and help get me on the right path\\\\
obviously i am running my system in SLI mode.
and if i understand what you said
I am effectively only using 1 gig for video ram (the ram on the first card), but i am using the frame buffer memory on both cards. <-- is that line correct?

Yes your are correct Varuuth. it's a little confusing. example: 1st card has a clock speed of 900mhz/1000mhz (GPu/Ram), second card 800mhz/900mhz. then the first card will always downclock to the lowest speeds. So now both cards will be 800/900. Unless you OC them.
problem with Dell system, is that your limited when you upgrade. As they always use low end power supply and Proprietary parts and bios. This is why pre-built systems are the worst, as most people will just go buy whatever the sales guy tells them.
Custom is the best, as you know yourself what you have in them.
Try running the game with one card only, and see if the blurry stops. Also physx, let the game use its version, instead of updating it yourself.

i just downloaded the newest drivers. 196.21
uninstalled old drivers / installed new drivers.
and as you can see by the above picture, things seem to be better. what do you think?
side note: still running it SLI and letting NVidia use it's own physix(sp) i wanted to only change out the drivers to see if that solved the problem.. no sense it changing to much at the same time, then i wouldn't know what solved the problem :-)
