When you create a new thread your profile picture does not appear beside it in the forum. Profile pictures only appear when someone replies. Until then we are left with the "no avatar avatar" (social.bioware.com/images/forum/no_avatar_thumb.gif).

I was actually pondering posting this myself. Most forums use a semantic where the first post and the topic starter post are the same. Here they are not. Is this intentional?

that's not intentional, it's a bug in the forums software, having to do with some caching. We'll get it fixed as time permits.
