Recently I have used the name in Alenec in Warhammer Online (I only played that game for a month). I used it for my Dwarf characters and I liked it I suppose. I got the name from a Star Wars story I made up lol...anyways.
List of names I am thinking of.
Duran (Default name I think)
Napoleon
Alenec
Farler
Would those names fit with a Dwarf well? I'm not really a RPer but I want my guy to have a good name.
Dwarf Name suggestins please help.

I just used this site and it translates any name into the dwarven equivalent so you can use your real name and it will give you a fun dwarven one

Geotach means "short stocky man" in Gaelic. If you play with the pronunciation out loud for a bit, it's not bad.
Seriously, I will frequently use other languages than my own to find a name. I also recommend looking through baby-name books.

I think I'll just stick with one of those that are on my list.
I'm not that big of a RPer to where it matters if my Dwarf name has a good meaning or not.
Thanks for the help though.

I tend to pick names for dwarves that are either mechanical in nature or have a gravelly or rough sound to it.

If you really wanted, you could grab the names of more obscure Tolkein dwarves. Stay away from Thorin, Balin and Gimli, and instead pick something like Dain or Hundin.

My Rogue is named Brimlok. That was the name of my Dwarf Hunter when WoW first came out. I like the name.
I try to pick things that just SOUND Dwarfish and that kind of have something to do with the background of the dwarves in whatever game I'm playing.
Like, for WoW it was...brim...like of a mug of ale and lok just sounded like flint lock so...Brimlok.

It's a single player game, so you won't have to worry about what other players think about you. I'd not name a dwarf Napoleon in an online RPG like Lord of the Rings.
I like Farler and Alenec, though.
To me, dwarf names are either inspired by Tolkien's dwarves or by nordic/viking names.

If you are like me and go the Tolkienesque route, he got all his names from the Norse poetic Eddas. Dvalin, Eitri, Brokk and so on. And since Norse Mythology is where dwarves come from, I suggest looking at all things Scandanavian for inspiration.
Opps, I guess Taltherion already said that.

To be honest you could have pretty much anything and then explain that your father chose it while he was drunk, as long as you are happy with it who gives a monkeys.
But when it comes to "traditional" dwarf names germanic and norse roots are good as well as the odd glottal stop. Farler and Alenec do fit with the same style as the surnames Aeducan and Brosca.
On another note my name in dwarven name is Hat....
