First of all i've beaten mass effect 2 twice and played it enough to know that during conversations there shouldn't be
black borders on the top and bottom of your screen cutting some stuff out.

Almost like widescreen pirated movie kinda stuff.

Well i got a new computer and installed mass effect 2, and all of a sudden i'm getting these black borders during conversations and cutscenes its ridiculous.

Never came across it before and its just.. THERE like its not bad.. , but dam just get it out of here.

I'm pretty sure lowering resolution could make it go away.. but i dont to make this great game look worse because hell i got this new computer to max out games.

I'm running it in normal 4:3 1280 by 1040, which i used in my previous computer.

have nvidia geforce 240 gts if that helps on anything. latest drivers..

tried monitor stuff.

Anyone know a way to get rid of these borders without lowering resolution? tried almost everything and this never happened to me before... or a lot of other people cause havent seena nother complaint like this.

Sorry can't get a pic.., but its just as i say 2-3 inch thick borders on top and on bottom during cutscenes and conversations.

Use the ME2 configuration tool in the location you installed the game (Program Files>Mass Effect 2>Binaries) and select the ME2 configuration tool. Now change your mode from widescreen to something else.

If this doesn't solve the issue then I'm out of options to help you and I wish you the best of luck. :)

The only other thing I can think of is that your monitor is built for a specific resolution. If you screw with the resolution settings you could create those black bars. So find out your monitor's native resolution and try to match it with ME2. Or crank the resolution to 1600x1200 since your graphics card should be able to handle that setting.

If that fails then call Nvidia and find out if there's a widescreen option on your card that might be enabled. Or just google it. Google solves 98% of all computer problems or at least explains them.

used native stuff.

and never ran it in widescreen always in 4;3

I think this is supposed to happen. I play in 4:3 and conversations are in black box widescreen. It doesn't bother me.

Conversations and cutscenes have a fixed 16:9 aspect ratio. On a 4:3, 5:4, or 16:10 screen you will have black sections.

If you don't like this, buy a 16:9 aspect monitor.

I've seen people run 4:3 on a widescreen, as they didnt know who to properly use one.

You say your running 1280x1024, but is your LCD/monitor you using.

running on a dell 1905 fp.. .. dont think i configured anything wrong. meaning widesccreen or normal when its not.

Remember i played this game enough on my other computer to remember that there were no black borders or anything blocking the image portrayed on screen.

If you guys really have the same issue and think its.. fine...  lol i feel bad for you

Cause there aren't supposed to be black borders on your screen widescreen or not.

So as the people above posted.. you think its normal.. its not..

supposed to have  a clear screen seeing everything around.
