I've heard rumors that BioWare and EA are interested in expanding the
Mass Effect universe even after the Mass Effect Saga. People have
speculated and given their opinions on the direction they would like
the universe to go. I also have an idea of where I would like the games
to go after the saga as well.

I would like to see the games stay
similar to a Third-Person RPS but also with more fleshed out mechanics.
I think it would be awesome to implement some mechanics that would be
new to the Mass Effect universe as well.

The melee combat for
instance... at this point you just throw an elbow. I would like to be
able to chain a variety of melee attacks, perhaps with a heavy melee
and light melee implementation AND/OR a punch/kick combo system. Now
I'm not saying that I want Ninja Gaiden Effect, but being able to have
options during combat and being able to kick ass while looking cool is
just whatmodern gaming is all about.

Also I think the
Infiltrators could make use of a "camoflage vs. lighting" system
similar to stealth games. Using the light mapping even available in ME2
you could implement a "visibility" bar that could effect the damage
modifiers for the class. I know, I know you're thinking "But they
already have that in the Cloak skill," but I haven't forgotten that
either... that skill can still be used to transverse large areas of
brighter lighting and perhaps have a "Melee Assassination" skill that
can only be done from a "Cloaked" state.

These are just a few ideas but I didn't want to create a wall of text that nobody would read.

I agree that if the ME series continues after #3 it will probably branch to another galaxy using a hidden Mass Effect gate known to the reapers.

I mean how realistic is it that the Reapers, who are so technologically advanced they (not going to go into details because of spoilers) dwarf any other current race in terms of power and technology are just sitting there, waiting for the you know what to being every so often in the place that we all know about (if you've played ME2) and not set up stop gap measures to prevent the worst case scenario of their total destruction? They're machines. It's logical for them to cultivate multiple options in multiple galaxies due to the constant fluctuating factor of biological races being too unpredictable with their actions and advancements.

Not a fan of the whole kicking someone while holding a gun, it's bad form to kick someone while holding something you need to aim and that can accidentally discharge if dropped.

Maybe a variety of animations for when you melee attack someone but the elbow is just proper military form.

What I was getting at with the melee attacks is a little more complex than going MMA on someone. Trust me I was in the ARMY for 6 years and I went Airborn Ranger for 4, afterwards I got a license to teach Self Defense and I've been teaching that for 5 years. There are countless situations where a melee attack is more suited to the situation than having a sidearm out. For example sneaking up behind a target and sticking a combat knife through the soft spot between the collar bone to get to the heart easier than going through the sternum or rib-cage, while holding a hand firmly over their mouth so they don't make a sound. It's called pinpoint assassination. Something an Infiltrator would do in my opinion.

My point is that there is a lot of room for mechanic improvement and depth. And something like that would be very cool to do in a video-game. I'm sure most people would agree that having the ability to play according to your specific playstyle would only add to the game. And how many people wouldn't enjoy pulling of a pinpoint assassination from the shadows or from a "cloaked" state.

actually if this does happen we can pick up where shepard and his crew left off.... for instance lets say you die at the end and start the 4th game maybe shepard becomes a symbol and a few easter eggs of him but you dont play as him. kinda like a new charachter lives by what shepard has done

I want to see ME3 as a definite conclusion to the Shepard story arc and for the focus to be elsewhere for any other games.

I'd actually like an ME themed RTS set before the events of ME. The campaign mode would jump between the first contact war with a human and turian campaign and the Morning War with a quarian and geth campaign. Multiplayer would be up to four player with all of those factions available for play regardless of story continuity.

I want to see ME go forward as either a TPS or MMORPG

Pure TPS is most natural step for Mass Effect Uni,ME 2 already took the first step.People already compare it to gears of wars.I can't speak for anybody else but i am dying for chance to use my vanguard against somebody else somebody smarter than cpu that is in flesh out balance combat

A mmorpg is the most interesting option a well put together mmo can cover many different genres and playing styles.Watching the ME uni come to life thousand players playing different players could be a great thing.Probably only game type that could make Citadel come alive and give player sense exploration the have been wanting.

I would lean to towards a shooter only because it would come out way faster than another rpg

I would personally like to see more Mass Effect style games, preferably made by Bioware rather than someone else EA might hire. A straight-up shooter could work, but I'd rather have some role-playing elements, though a shooter multiplayer component would be nice (only after ME3, I don't want that delayed).

I'm on the fence as far as MMO... the programming requirements to implement similar gameplay to what we already have AND offer this to hundreds of people in the same area is a server disaster waiting to happen. Time will tell.

As far as RTS goes.. NO! Least we not forget the Halo Wars disaster. I am also not impressed with what EA has done for the C&C franchise.

I would like Mass Effect games (or at least most) to stay true to the original gameplay styles and genres. Third Person Roleplaying Shooter, with variations and gameplay mechanic exploration. I am interested in seeing BioWare add depth to what they already have while not being afraid to innovate.

I want a Mass Effect MMO for HOME CONSOLES!

PC has enough damn MMOs, give us something to play on home consoles, please!
Xbox 360, PS3, and even Wii support USB Keyboards, so that won't be a problem.

Also, I'd like to see a Mass Effect Sigma for PS3. (ME1 with ME2's Ammo & Armor system)

I would love a Sins of a Solar Empire style space strategy game. God that would be awesome. Unfortunately I don't think EA has any studios with a pedigree in that sort of genre.

So, with an MMO, how many Shepard variants would we see within the first day? A couple of thousands?

I'm no stranger to more games in the same universe, but perhaps doing it differently than the Mass Effect games which are shooter-RPGs (or RPG-shooters if you prefer).

For example, Fallout 1 and 2 were for their time standard 2D RPGs, basically text adventures with some spice. Then came Fallout Tactics which was a tactical squad leader shooter, still with a 2D perspective, but with very little RPG elements. And finally, a real shooter-RPG, Fallout 3 was released. The only thing these four games had in common was the background and the world, but four games in three different genres is by no means bad.

That doesn't mean I think we should go down to 2D to play ME4, but that there are topics that I could imagine would be quite fun to play. I'm so old that I remember Wing Commander with joy, and I would love a game like that set in our universe. Or, go the other way and put armies on a map, turning it into a strategy game. The possibilites are endless.
