I can't believe I even have to explain this. You are so deluded and looking to see what you want to see, that you're treating every item as if it's a subset of "listen to feedback". Listening to feedback is one item in that bubble, weighed equally against the other items. It is not the dominant tenant.

Nowhere in this presentation does she even mention the squadmates, other than to say that you can map their abilities to the D-pad for use in real-time. You know why? BECAUSE IT'S NOT HER CONCERN! The fate of the squad is up to the writers and no one else. This chick is lead GAMEPLAY designer and this presentation was about GAMEPLAY and it was aimed at DEVELOPERS.

Because this was intended for developers, I'm sure little consideration was paid to how a lunatic would interpret it. I'm sure she'll clarify for those that need clarifying at some point. If she can peel her face out of her palms long enough to tweet about it.

Doing a quick 180...

I apologize for the confirmation bias. Yes, it is directed toward developers, and thus the squadmates themselves is out of her control. Norman tweets about a FemShep DLC which turns out to be the Kasumi DLC, so it's difficult to take her word when it comes to pleasing the fans.

Mood swings... I'm starting to turn into The Angry One (No offense, Angry!).

Note: I'll still continue to argue in favor of any 6-8 squadmates returning though... I just won't use this as any kind of evidence

Quoting myself onto the next page to ensure it can be read.

Not to open a can of worms, but was there any doubt that they would not keep the same dev team for this project?

Well, good. I hope the Dragon Age people are taking notes.

And I hope the Mass Effect people are doing the same. Both franchises could be improved if they each borrowed a few ideas from the other.

That would be more problematic for ME3 as the possible squad losses mean recording dialog for all the possible squad combinations would be wasted effort to a certain extent.

So? DA:O had tons and tons of banter between characters that could die or be sent away at any time. Even Shale, the DLC character, fully interacted with the rest of the team.

It would be a waste for BioWare NOT to implement party banter.

While that's true, I'd say that the main difference is that the Mass Effect team actually manage to improve most things from ME1 to ME2 (or at the very least, not make things worse), while Dragon Age seems to be taking several big steps backwards in Awakening.

NO to the ME1 inventory. It was rubbish and useless once you were on X mods/weapons/colossus armor.

YES to more banter

Really? I haven't really been keeping up with Awakening. What's going on there?

Please don't go back to the ME1 inventory system. I'd like more than what ME2 offers, but don't use that system please!

I'm sure BW can come up with a more streamlined system, while keeping the loot-gathering in place :)

Well, I don't want to go too far off-topic... and you probably already know about the major gripes like the game being 15 hours long, no returning companions (except Oghren), no romances, and DLC items not carrying over. Then there's this, which was announced a while ago apparently but I only found out about it today. Definitely the most bizarre decision of the lot, if you ask me.

So yes... while ME2 wasn't perfect, at least I got the sense that the designers weren't consciously trying to do the exact opposite of what the fans of ME1 wanted. If they can do the same with ME3 I'll be happy enough, though I guess it's a bit sad to have such low expectations.

Wow. Ultimate Sacrifice ending resurrects your character and makes the Dark Ritual the default.

Velanna: The Grey Warden has been recovered.

Velanna: The Lazarus Project will continue as planned.

*cue music*

I really hope the team working on Mass Effect 3 does not imitate this. If they do, then they might as well resurrect all 12 squadmates for absolutely no reason, nullifying the consequences of the final mission.

I don't think that will happen. These problems seem to stem from Awakening being rushed out for some inexplicable reason, whereas the ME people seem to have a more methodical approach to to things, and an actual plan that they're following.

I have to be honest, I don't really understand what they mean by "RPG features". What "RPG features" did ME1 have that ME2 doesn't?

Apparently an inventory with an absurd yet finite capacity is absolutely integral to the experience...for some reason.

I don't really know - all I know is that I very much liked the new system, it felt far better (i.e. like my ship actually had an armory of weapons we were equipping ourselves out of) and the only real complaint I have is that how "picking up" weapons is handled needs to be streamlined to avoid the need to awkwardly place a weapon bay right next to every single one.

Well, hopefully they'll strike a happy medium between "ugly mess of loot" and "three weapon options is PLENTY, isn't it?"

That's still two more than ME1 had.  There was only 1 assault rifle with different numbers next to it.

I wouldn't mind if ME2 had actually forced me to pick which weapon I was using carefully for different missions, rather than pretty much using the same weapons until I got an upgraded one, and then just using that upgraded one for the rest of the game.

I dunno, I frequently switch weapons for missions.  In ME1 I just got Spectre Gear ASAP and gelled everything else.  That said, I do hope we see a greater variety.  ME1 had zero variety, ME2 had a little variety.  Keep goin', Bioware!

The ability to cary around 157 redundant guns and 19 suits of armor to use whenever you feel like, apparently <_<
I mean, who cares about the superior dialogue, acting, and character arcs.  Everyone knows that getting lewts that do more damage and awesome-looking armor is integral to character development.

Oooh ooh - you know what I do want though? The unlockable outfit of a squad member should have a user selectable team-color scheme going for it. I really liked getting everyone lined up with the orange and black theme, but it would've been great to be able to choose the color scheme myself.

I honestly LOVE the ME2 system, partly just 'cause it  makes more sense.

First off, it doesn't make sense to pick up every damn thing you find.  If you're a soldier with superior weaponry, why would you run around the battlefield lugging 200lbs worth of your enemy's sh*tty gear after a firefight just so you can hock it at a pawn shop?  Total crap, totally unrealistic.

Related to that is the "weapon locker" idea.  On the one hand, it is realistic that you can't carry every gun you own around with you all the time, and there is some skill involved in finding what weapons work best for any given mission.  On the other hand, having access to your "weapon locker" on the fly might appease those who want an inventory.  I'm torn on the idea of instant access to all weapons though.  If you're a soldier you take what you need, and leave the rest.  Taking 25 guns into battle just seems wrong somehow now that I have a game where you can't do that.

I DO understand that people like to find / purchase new gear in RPGs.  More, different weapons in each category would be nice.  Being able to add one or two modifications might be nice, too.  Not necessarily upgrades, just mods.  For instance, a mod that increases RoF but decreases accuracy, or one that increases ammo capacity but decreases damage.  Applied to different guns, these could allow us to tailor the feel and function of our weapons as we like.  OR, they could just make several different guns of each type to make up for lacking such modifications, and this may help soothe people's need for moar guns.

BW should just blaze their own trail, as they did from #1-#2. take on board some ideas but mainly just do the same things: introduce new ideas and refine what came before. as long as the characters/story have an epic resolution, i think everyone will be happy with that, regardless.

This is kinda back to a previous part of the thread, but I just find it a little funny when people start getting angry at Bioware because they think they're going to do something lol. Just makes me giggle.

Just a side note

There's nothing wrong with the Mining Minigame. Only the amount.

If we were to mine 50000 of each resources, it would have been more fun. But after the 20th planet it gets really repetitive.

^ Maybe if they made the scanning thing easier and the pinpoint of minerals larger? also if we didn't need that much to collect. they should balance it if they plan to keep it.

or get rid of it altogether and let us pick it up during missions(large quantity's/combination of mineral packs)

balance balance. (make sure we have enough minerals so it doesn't become a chore to collect or seem really rare, but not so much that it all just builds up so i can swim in it. perhaps a mineral loot % based on how much you have(which changes for each player/playthrough)

Oh god pleese don't bring back the inventory. It made the combat slow and boring.
