I was fine with the six or seven forced lines in ME1. But now half of Shepard's lines aren't decided on by me. There are also plenty of times where I could have easily decided what I wanted to say, but was instead railroaded into saying something else. Example, during the Joker meeting my Renegade Shepards would have punched him in the face for staying in the cockpit and causing me to die. I told Liara he was an ass, why am I so friendly to his crippled ass?

Because he can't fly your ship if you break his skull, duh.

Okay, fine. Punch him in the stomach, then.
That's not the point, though. the railroading is really annoying.

That was actually an improvement that I had been hoping for a while now.
There were so many times in ME1 where they'd give you options and they all said the SAME thing. Its seamless now and I found the lines to be typically very good. So kudos to BW on that.

There's simply no way they could come up with every possible dialog option for every possible players' response to every situation in the game. Of course they have to "force" you into certain dialog choices. Yes, I also would also have liked to have smacked Joker for disobeying orders; but 95% of the time the responses were exactly what I would have wanted to say or much better than what I would have thought to say. Being upset over one line is taking nitpicking to a pretty extreme degree...

I found for the most part it was batter. This time around if you chose a renegade or paragon option on the wheel, it wouldn't simply be one phrase, it would be a couple of tries for Shep to convince the other guy of something. More back and forth based on the one choice.
But yeah, I didn't like the times that weren't at all dependent on me, though.

You aren't allowed to do anything. You're given a lot of options, but a lot of what Shepard is and does is predefined. I'd rather have Shepard say things without player input rather than there be 3 options where Shepard says the exact same thing.

If you didn't die, the entire premise of this game would be out the window.
You should be thanking him.
