I liked Zaeed, Mordin and Legion from the very start.

The one that actually grew on me was Samara. At first I didn't like her "mysterious warrior of justice" background and her family issues made me sick. However, I liked the way we killed her daughter, and when she eventually told me that my "curiousity" was appreciated, I just thought: "Now I see, why your children were born crazy!"
I hope she's not going to kill me as she promised.

The only character I hated going into the game was Jack. And I continued to hate her throughout the game.

Ya me too, **** Jack.

Yeah same, Jack just does not appeal to me.

It's nice to see so many people are so shallow and judgemental and don't even give Jack a chance. Instead they just go for the chick with the fat ass. Clear evidence of simple mindedness.

Ah shut your stupid mouth. Not everyone has to love the character you masturbate to in order achieve "epic open-mind status". If some people don't like Jack they don't like her - the same goes for Miranda, Tali, Jacob, Grunt, Mordin etc.

And for the record, before you go spouting some more nonsense, I like Jack. I just don't like how you think everyone else should.

Grunt: seemed boring at first, but his comments during missions make him one of the most entertaining characters. Most of the other characters looked interesting to me from the start, but Samara, Jack and (especially) Mordin turned out to have more depth than I initially thought.

Grunt...he grew on me :)

I liked Samara, Miranda and Mordin from the start

Garrus: the opposite effect. I rather like him in ME1, but I can't stand ME2 Garrus

Jack and Grunt. Didn't think they would grow on me, but they did.

I dident care much for tali at all in ME1 and I wasn't to thrilled to get her as a teammate in ME2, then she was all cute and romanceble and I just melted for her <3

Zaeed, Grunt, and eventually, Jack.

However let me press that latter only shows up during the romance where her inner self shines. But with that, she became one of my favorites in ME2

I would say zaeed and Legion. Jacob was the opposite. I liked him at first, he was honest about cerberus, ex-alliance, but as the game goes on there's just no more to him.

I used Garrus, Miranda, and Jacob for my first playthrough, but then I found that Mordin, Thane, and Jack actually can bring some wicked combinations with the people I used. I don't hate any of the characters, some just don't fit my characters style/attitude. (Paragon Shep/Jack or Renegade Shep/Thane)

I hadn't seen a lot of promo materials before playing ME2, so I didn't go in with a lot of preconceptions about the characters...

I find it funny that people started out hating Jack-- many Bioware games have quasi-evil characters that often have redeeming qualities, Viconia and Morrigan being prominent examples. People like characters in that fragile mental state, because you can reform or further corrupt them if you feel like it. I always assumed there was more to Jack than attitude.

All that being said, the only characters I dislike really are Miranda and, to a lesser extent, Zaeed. Miranda's character design was absurdly over-sexed, and despite being super-smart, she blithely rationalized away Cerberus' mistakes. She is ultimately too self-centered and avoids learning or demonstrating empathy in all but the interactions with her sister. She serves her place in the story well though, as she represents the temptation of Cerberus and its short-sighted exploitation of others.

Zaeed I just don't like because he's underdeveloped. Yes, I know he's DLC, but there still isn't a lot of there there. Characters should offer more than violent anecdotes. He's just too static, but what is there is done well.

Otherwise I like just about every squadmate. Jacob's a little boring, but human squadmates in ME often are.

Tali. I was just "meh" with Tali on my first few playthroughs in ME1. But I started to appreciate her more after a while. Now, after playing ME2, I'm starting to love her! I'm not a Talimancer, though. ;-)

At first I thought Mordin, Thane, Grunt, Garrus, Jack and Specially Miranda were very MEH.

But, they all become incredible once I saw them in-game. I'll allways remember Mordin, I was like: Who's this guy? A crappy Salarian. Who cares?

When I watched her first "possible interrupt convo" during his mission, i just LOLED. I love him since.

Miranda and Jack.....didn't like them to begin with. Ok now, but would like them even more if I could have a conversation with them that didn't end with them wanting to jump me and then get stropy if I tell them no thanks.

Jack and Grunt. I was sure I would hate them tremendously in accordance with those character trailers, plus Grunt suffered from the fact I saw him trying to fill the hole Wrex left in my heart, but I came to love Grunt and Jack... well, to some extent, I still can't stand her, and she's useless in combat situations, but she's a lot better than I imagined she would.

Still wish she'd wear some clothing or, I dunno, a hardsuit or something.

Zaeed. After doing his personal mission, I pretty much hated the guy, but I learned to value his contribution as a warrior.

He's still a dick, though.

Probably Mordin I HATED him on my first playthrough because I mostly disagree about his out look on the Genophage, but when he gave some "advice" about inter-species relations I loved him

Then I realised he was exaclty like Indiana Jones :)

Tali. ****ing hated her in ME1. For like, the first half of my first playthrough. Then she grew on me and OMG <3 TALI.

EDIT: It's because I'm a Geth apologist.

I didn't like Jack in the previews, but after playing the full game, I like her a lot better. Definitely a ball of hate for Shep to launch at enemies, I wish she had a more sensible outfit. That said I don't use her a lot. I'd only use her over Samara if want Squad Warp Ammo and I don't have the power myself.

Grunt really grew on me when I found out he's the over enthusiastic, sadistic and loud 12 year old baby brother.

I tried taking Jacob out with me on my second playthrough and he doesn't grow on me.

Opposite

In ME1 Tali didn't annoy me much in ME2 I want to stab her.

Biggest MEH to biggest like:

1. Miranda. I thought she was a total brat - by the end, I thought of her as a good friend and event took her with on the final mission. When my paragon told the Illusive Man "**** you" and she stood by me, I just wanted to give her a big hug.

2. Mordin. His voice annoyed me at first. Soon I had him on every mission.

3. Tali. I alway found her a little "eh, whatever". I really liked her by the end.

4. Thane. At first I thought he was a deadbeat dad with a voice that just grated on my ear. By the end I was willing to talk with him. But just talk. That's all.

5. Grunt. Amused me by the end.

Still never cared for Jacob. Poor Jacob. Go wait on the ship. And Zaeed - I loved punching him.

I was very nuetral towards Jack when they announced her character, not really sure what to think. It was only playing the game that made her one of my favorites.

Actually, I love all characters from both games barring Zaeed (who I only slightly dislike at worst, and am 'meh' on at best)

I've tried so hard to like Jacob. And as soon as I start thinking, "Meh I guess he's ok," he then says something that makes me think, "Jacob... stfu."

Like what? I can't think of a single thing he talked about that was annoying.
