Samara improved for me. Jacob has been downhill since the first time I met him. Mordin has been pretty funny right from the start. Grunt is not as good as good as Wrex. Miranda is better than Ashley, so I am not going to complain about her, Tali is even better this time around.

Zaeed, I didn't even start taking him on mission or even talking to him until like my third playthrough. Its because Shepard had to slap him around when I did his loyalty mission as a paragon. This made him seem like an idiot, but when I actually took him on missions and talk to him on multiple occasions, he grew on me. Plus he can be the first squadmate to be loyal which helps out in a gameplay perspective.

At first I thought that Grunt would be a completely unsuitable replacement for Wrex, but bringing him around turned out to be more fun than I expected.

I hated all my teammates except Tali. I liked the look of Legion, but I hate the Geth.

Before getting the game, I expected that I'd hate Jack. I was wrong.

I ended up liking every single squadmate. Tali's my favorite, and my squad usually consists of her and Samara.

Jacob: Seemed ok during the turotial mission but became invisiable during the rest of the game i neither hate nor love him - he simply is there.

Miranda: Disliked her at first but she grew a bit during her loyalty quest. At the end while i am not overly fond of her i cant say i disliker her anymore.

Zaeed: Didnt like him when i first met him, cant say he gew much at all.

Mordin: Awesome from the first word out of his mouth untill the end of the game.

Garrus: Liked him in ME1, Like him even more in ME2.

Jack: I really thought i would hate her, but she grew on me and have to say that of all the characters she grew the most. Now i really like her.

Grunt: He isnt Wrex - started of a bit generic but ended up beign a fun character to have around.

Tali: Liked her in ME1, Like her even more in ME2.

Thane: Liked him from the get go.

Samara: Still not sure about her.

Legion: Intriguing.

I originally hated both Jacob and Jack, but later on, I found them to be awesome. Jack's just so interesting to talk to, and Jacob...well, Jacob's just the kind of guy I'd have as a friend in real life.

I wasn't really surprised by any of the characters, and I can't say I started liking any that I didn't like at first. The closest thing to an exception would be Jacob. I despise Cerberus, but he's honest about his intentions, and doesn't seem to agree with Cerberus ideology, which I can respect.

You might say Tali, too. hesitate to include her because it was so obvious I was going to like her, though. I was very indifferent towards her in ME1, but simply seeing a familiar face made me want to have her along. When she did come along, and it turned out to be one of the deeper relationships of the series, well, yeah.

Miranda and Mordin (not for his personality but combat) They were invaluable on insane playing as a vanguard. Especially Miranda with warp and overload.

I didn't like Jacob at first because of the way my Shepard talked to him. But then I realized something maybe she wasn't "flirting" with him maybe she was acting the way she was to pick on him? make him nervous you know all devious.. after I planted that in my head Jacob turned out to be a cool dude

Jacob: He's just there.

Miranda: Hated her initially, hated her more as game advanced, and finally the abhorence of her reached new peaks as I intentionally kill her off.

Zaeed: Didn't like him from first meeting.

Mordin: Pure awesome from the first time you meet him.

Garrus: One of my favorites in ME and continues to be so in ME2. He's always got Shepard's back.

Jack: Hated her from the first time she opened her mouth and is only slightly less hated than Miranda.

Grunt: Wrex was better, but Grunt has his moments.

Tali: Favorite squadmate from ME and ME2, and like Garrus you know she's got your back.

Thane: Thought he was ok, but he got better especially with his loyalty mission and evolution of his character.

Samara: I was neutral at first, but ended up liking her. It doesn't hurt that she's the only biotic I don't feel like shooting in the face the first time they open their mouth.

Legion: Interesting character and would have liked more development time, but his obsession is intriguing for an AI platform.

Jacob: Hated him on principle, but as the game went on I at least became neutral toward him.

Miranda: Hated her on principle, hated her more after her loyalty mission(sry my little kid gloves get used up on Tali, Jack and Grunt), and fully expect betral from her in ME3 bc of sister. Her character made me hate my own character as well, as I couldn't tell her how much I hated her; even during her loyalty mission I couldn't back out of.
Don't get me wrong I think she is a solid char as far as this game goes, and is someone I love to hate.

Zaeed: Didn't like him right away, wanted to shoot him after he pulled a Saren, and think the dev's should edit in an option for that. Paragade = shoot him +7 par + 3 ren  Renagon= watch him burn +7 ren + 3 par, or just leave him 5/5

Mordin: Really enjoyed meeting him, and he just got better to me after that.

Garrus: I could understand his frustation in ME, I understand his position in ME2; and hope that the dev's allow him to balance out in 3 no matter which course you take with his quest.

Tali: I was very upset to be left at Freedom's Progress by her (dev's fault not hers.)  In ME she was the daugther I always wanted. ME 2 I was disappointed I couldn't tell her that (I do realize Shep isn't really old enough to have had her). Thought she was ok, and the romance was cute, but underdeveloped, just like Garrus was.

Jack: Neutral to start with, but once I got past the "I'm a tough kid" crap, I liked her.

Grunt: I thought he was great. I don't compare him with Wrex (Wrex was my fav from ME, so it wouldn't be fair) He actually reminds me of my godson, in a way, several actually...lol .

Thane: I thought his entrance was a little over done , and he robbed me of my chance to kill her. He lost points with me right there, however, I liked him as I started talking to him. By the end of the game I really enjoyed his character. I hope the dev's don't cave with him, and leave him as dying because it would cheapen the strength of his story, and romance, IMO.

Legion: Is my favorite new char, yep, i'm a geth sympothizer, and hope that Tali gets over her miss guided and blind hate of the geth before 3; so I don't have to kill her.

Samara: I was biggoted toward her before meeting her. I didn't like, nor trust, the asari as a race in ME. However, after wandering around Illum, and hearing how ****y they were, I couldn't stop laughing. By the time I reached Samara I had a neutral view of them. Which was good for me, because I really enjoyed the character, and ended up using her often.

Miranda, being the morally questionable female badass I thought I would spend the game wanting to toss out the airlock, like Morrigan in Dragon age. I was pleasantly surprised.

Jack, I'm not sure if hate is applicable, but I ended up getting her killed in the end, more or less intentionally. I figured a heroic death saving the galaxy was better than going back to being a criminal jerkass.

It has to be Tali, ME1... meh, I hardly brought her along.

In ME2, Tali'Zorah Vas Normandy... I have to say her character developed superbly. Having Tali die during suicide run was the most painful death by far. Can't take it, have to reload.

Funny thing really, I hated Ashley in ME when it first came out, played the hell out of it, and she was like my least favorite character, after playing Mass Effect 2 for a couple of playthroughs I went back to ME 1 and now I really like her character. I think it's because besides Jacob and Samara, the rest of the new crew could throw themselves out of the nearest airlock and I wouldn't really miss any of them. Tali, Garrus, Ashley, Jacob, Samara, Wrex= Dream Team.

Thane, the reveal trailer made him look like a totally cocky *** in need of a good smackdown from Shepard to learn his place...but he really is not....

No other character had to prove themselves to me more than Thane. Drop down from the vents and kill Nassana *before* I could extract some money out of her? Check. (What? My Shep was poor.) Carth Onassi syndrome? Check. Too manufactured, corny romance plot for my tastes? Check. On top of that, a lame terminal illness for even more tragedy? Ugh check.

However, I'm glad I gave him a chance and he proved his usefulness in combat through and through. Also, I love how such a proud proud man he is, his intelligence and maturity. In the end, I thought as a character, he deserved much better than what I listed above - ok, maybe except for the first one since it's not really his fault. Now he's a favourite of mine and an irreplaceable squad member who I take almost everywhere with me.

Garrus and Thane.

Garrus was benched for the entirety of ME1... it was only in ME2 without Kaiden and Liara dominating my away-squad slots with Tali, that i was able to see Garrus' value.

Thane... i don't know what it is, still, that puts him on the back-burner for me. i like him more and more, but perhaps my femshep will have to romance him for me to like him ultimately... but i think its his voice that bothers me...

Jacob remains on the list of characters that BioWare has tried desperately hard for us to like, but has failed to succeed at. (i put Leliana from DA:O in this list too - how i loathe her, and its the voice again, like Thane, that hurts me)

Jacob. For some reason, I have the same feeling toward the male human squadmate you inevitably start out with in Bioware games. (Carth, Kaiden) yet I find if you actually bother to talk to him rather than ignore him and take him on a few missions, he's actually pretty cool.
