You can make a woman come across as being confident and comfortable with her body without acting like a hooker.
Just my 5 cents......I have a 14 year old son. Yes I would allow him to play ME, nothing worse than he would get by watching the news!

If this game hints at sex from to to time.. so be it, act mature about it, its a natural part of life and a few hundred years ago a kid aged 13 would probably already get married!
I wont mention the Rated Mature thing any further, others already did and its way to obvious.
The clothing Miranda wears is only to to show how perfect she is, thats a major part of the character! Her engeneerd greatness and how she has to deal with it. Her clothing is an example of that. Baggy pants and oversized sweater would kill the character.
Besides, she doesnt need any more armor like Shepard. She has the best armor there is: Plot Armor

I was like "get that thing the hell out of the way dammit!!"
For all the comments about Miranda... I still think that Jack's "clothing" is far worse. Just because she is flat, doesn't mean it is any less revealing. Imagine the fallout if Miranda wore Jack's outfit. There would be a lot of 13 year old boys, and 20/30+ year old guys being sent to their rooms. Pure "flatism" I tell you.

It's a perfectly valid question to ask; Why is her suit so tight that you can see her ******? The ONLY reason I've come up with is "She dresses that way in order to maximize her sex appeal." That's perfectly fine; some people just find it in bad taste with how prominently the game displays it.
There's a difference between lack of censorship and "doing it because we can." People are arguing as to which category Miranda falls into.

Not sure if i should take that "father" comment as a compliment or not.
Either way, 1970-85 was way way less censored then it is today, especially in movies since games hadnt really kicked off around that time. If you think about it, the entertainment industry actually went alittle backwards, except "foreign movies".
Im hoping 2012 will kickstart a new era.

@JeanLuc761
It goes beyond that when he bring his 13yro kid into the question.
It actually goes directly from miranda cloth to "why sex in games, why the sex appeal".

Either way, Miranda's tight outfits accent not only how she views herself, but also shows her interest in exhibitionism. *Shrugs* its what all women with good assets do, if your proud of it, show it off.; some just are more tasteful outfits than others.
... mmm, ******... *Purr*
A defining trait of Miranda is that she feels uncomfortable with her genetic engineering, that she has everything, but didn't earn it. Her body is included in this.
This is why Miranda's 'sex symbol' status in the game and on these forums troubles me. The camera focuses on her ass multiple times, you can see cameltoe, her loyalty costume has visible panty line, even other characters call her whorish. I have a lot of trouble having a serious conversation with a woman when her ass is half the screen. I like attractive people as much as the next person, but there's a time and a place. Her romance scenes, for example, not an emotional conversation on how she feels like less of a person.
All the focus on her appearance and sex appeal cheapens her character. She doesn't like it. Much like Jack, she wears revealing clothing because she doesn't value herself. She sees herself as a collection of assets, rather than a true person, and dresses/acts to maximize these assets at the cost of herself. I don't understand why people who claim to be such big Miranda fans miss that part.
I agree. I'm a Miranda fan (albeit a straight female one), and her presentation occasionally troubles me. Bioware is trying to have their cake and eat it to, and it creates some unfortunate implications. It's the same issue with Jack. From what I understand, her romance is about telling her that men can value her as person and aren't just after sex. And, at the end, you...have sex with her.

What some folks seem to not understand is the context. Yes, it's a mature rated title, but a reasonably mature individual wouldn't be titillated by gratuitous t!ts, ass and crotch shots in a video game. That's more suited to the the teen demographic. As a consequence it seems out of place and unnecessary to some people. The devs put that stuff in the game to appeal to a certain subset of gamers and the teen crowd.
Personally, I think it's silly and it cheapens the character to the extent that I can't take Miranda seriously in the role of a combat leader or second in command of the Normandy. Using sex as a weapon is a situational tactic. Strutting around the game world in that stupid outfit is overkill. It's so contrived and transparent that it's borderline offensive to anyone with a room temperature intelligence. Don't even get me started on what I think of the suitability of wearing something like that, with a simple breather mask, on the Collector ship or any other hostile environment.
They really dropped the ball on that and it's not just Miranda. Jack, Samara and Mordin come to mind as some of the other characters that should have been outfitted with armor and helmet as well.
I do realize that it is just a video game and shouldn't be taken too seriously. It's just that, in my opinion, they could have done it better without sacrificing too much.

Realism has never gotten in the way of "being cool" in popular media. Stormtroopers wear armor. Han Solo doesn't. Xena fought in practically nothing. So did Gabrielle and Iolaus. Popular media has never been interested in representing combat with tactically sound armor. War movies that are trying to be historically accurate generally do. Modern-day cop movies, sometimes (but not always) do.
I am in favor of this. I'd prefer my characters to look cool.
That said. Yes, Miri's cameltoe is .. unnecessary. A woman -can- wear a fitted bodysuit without showing cameltoe.
