Calling the dude a bad parent, is kind of dumb I played M ratted games, since I was that age. My parents thought I was ready to handle such things as M ratted material. Hell I watched Halloween when I was 5 years old with my father. That doesn't make him a bad parent, because he thought I was ready to handle it. Heck, I loved the knee jerk reactions about the guy thinking that his son was ready for M ratted material.

Oh by the way it not against the law for a person to play a m ratted game. However, it is against the law for the Kid to buy the game The fact Miranda is used as sexual appeal is just down right stupid she already felt unconformable with herself, and bioware is making her a sex object in the game. It made me pissed off so badly it does lessen the character.

I like it when some people go around calling other people dumb, because we actually aware what we buy and what we do. Honestly, you are very clever, I assume, so it is legal to use the 18+ content, but not legal to buy it. All you need to do is to ask a dude next to you to buy you a pack of cigarettes, a bottle, a porn magazine or a M-rated game, and you are clean... Very clever....

That is the truth, and I'm 21 years old.  and I don't smoke, and I have had my first drink when I was 21 years old. However, most kids get there parents to buy the  M rated game in question.  Heck I live in a very open house hold that did not  shellter there children from realtily.

I acttualy call people dumb, when people make knee jerk reactions.  He had said in another part  of thread  that his son  had gotten obxouois about it that is why he was sent to his room.

The only reason people are pissed is because it's constantly pushed in your face that Miranda has "the perfect body" (which, oddly enough, I don't find all that attractive).  Having a beautiful character is one thing; having her and the camera constantly throwing it at you is quite another.

like I said, subtlty is underrated.

Yeah it's over emphasised, and quite honestly not very attractive.

OK, so to actually get back on the subject of the OP:
I really don't believe Bioware set out to model a damn cameltoe onto low poly count body models. I do have 3d modeling experience and I can tell you that they would never model something that detailed for one part of a female body, especially when it is extremely obvious how low the poly counts are visually. What probably you saw was one set of polys pulling/pushing/clipping into/across another. This happens all the time in 3d modeling and not just in games. I understand that you "thought" it looked like a cameltoe, but I can assure you it wasn't. If Bioware were to comment they would probably tell you the same thing I just said or something similar.
Ok, question answered, we can all move on to the next heated debate over nothing really important.

Yes, ma'am, yes. Should we move to another unimportant thread now, or we can vent the steam here and move later? ;)

Isn't this game rated M15+ or higher?
Isn't a principle of that rating the fact that it is probably not suitable for 13 year olds to be watching you play?
EDIT: You know what this is even dumber: it's a skintight body suit. You know where else I see skintight body suits? At the god damn beach in real life. Actually at my local beach there are also women sunbathing topless and the like - it's a family beach, people don't freak out etc. This thread is hilariously puritanical and stupid on many levels.

Welcome to America.

I still stand by my point independent of the posters problem.

They could have handled Miranda more tactfully, instead they didn't and made her more overt just to be overt really and it seems out of place and cheesy.

Many women use their bodies to their advantage.  This isn't new.  This isn't news.  There's nothing surprising about Miranda other than the fact that she wears that into combat.  There are real women that dress in a similar manner to manipulate people.  There's nothing shocking about it.  Mira did it in KotOR2, and even explains why if your Exile is female(god I hate using that game for an example of anything).

I agree that Miranda's butt and outfit are too much, and similarly Samara's giant boobs are too big (obvious implants are obvious). It's ironic, because I'm also in the camp that thinks the game should have had some nudity. For an immersive RPG game like ME, I think the developers should try to make the game as realistic as possible. If you want to sex up the game, then put in some mild nudity in the love scenes or have the dancer's in Afterlife be topless. That would have been sexy and it makes sense in the context of the game. Putting a character in a ridiculous outfit that gives her the most unrealistic wedgie ever seen and then sticking her ass in front of the "camera" as much as possible is dumb. It shouts "MONEY SHOT" and breaks immersion.

I agree. I'm a Miranda fan (albeit a straight female one), and her presentation occasionally troubles me. Bioware is trying to have their cake and eat it to, and it creates some unfortunate implications. It's the same issue with Jack. From what I understand, her romance is about telling her that men can value her as person and aren't just after sex. And, at the end, you...have sex with her.

Well that's an assumption.  Rolling on the bed and kissing while fully clothed, ending in a still-fully-clothed cuddle scene doesn't necessarily mean sex.  I don't know many people that would do the deed, then quickly get dressed again to cuddle afterwards.

This sums it up perfectly.

On another point - Why do some people keep insisting this game is an 18+, on my box it says 15. Goodness ME was rated a 12!

Also, did you really just compare a M-rated videogame to drugs? <_<

I did. That's my POV, though. I honestly think that 18+ games are for adults only and must entertain adults with ... what entertains adults. There is no need to censor, cut, truncate, modify all adult content unless they want to target larger auditorium. Sometimes it reduces the fun.

Well that stance would be perfectly fine... if M rated games weren't still censored to all hell on the excuse that children *might* see it.

Miranda's costume is nothing worse than what any kid is watching on Nickelodeon, at least Miranda acts like she has some self-esteem.

Except cigarettes and alcohol are illegal for someone of that age to use as well, unless specifically given them by the parent to use within the house.  It's legal(here in the states at least) for a minor to drink alcohol, but only if given it from their parents and within their own home.

If you buy an M rated game or tickets to an R rated movie for someone underage, there's nothing illegal there.  Buying alcohol for a minor *is* illegal.

To the OP. You was letting your 13 year old watch the game play. Well its a 15 certificate. So you was breaking the law. Can't blame BioWare for what happened its all your fault.

The rating on the video game is NOT a law!

It is a guideline to minimize parental and religious right backlash over who views certain material.

Different countries have different rating system.  Here in the states, we only have 2 ratings that restrict sales.  Both Mass Effect games are rated 'M', which is stated to be 'Mature 17+', the same as a rated R movie is.  Then there's the 'AO' rating, meaning 'Adults Only', which most places won't even carry, much less sell.

The camera view got messed up and we got a close up view of Miranda's girly part.  Needless to say my son got all excited by the extra tight suit and I had to send him to his room.

Bioware.....what was the point of making her suit so tight you could see her ******?

Why did you send your son to his room for getting excited? Isn't that a little harsh? :(
As far as I know it's perfectly healthy for a 13-years old boy to get excited real easily, nothing to be ashamed of and no reason to punish him, right?

"Some" people do not "keep insisting". On my Collector's Edition box it states 18, Bad Language, Violence. That is more than for a porn site, actually.

Thank you for clearing that up. I am in Scotland (UK). So basically my 14 year old can buy ME here, but not in the US.

It has completely to do with what ever area/country you live in for the rating. In the USA it's a M game (17+), in the UK it's 15+, in some of the other EU countries its 18+.

Strictly saying, yes. However if you do that (at least in Europe) and it will become public, school will intervene and a juvenile court can easily vote that you have "bad influence" (this is a real term) on your children and they can be taken away just like that. In some European countries juvenile courts have no mercy. Then, you can philosophize for yourself what was legal and what not.
