Miri is definitely too bulbous for my tastes and her accentuating attire did become irritating. At one point it looked like Legion had snuck up her butt 'cause it was shining. But I hadn't yet picked him up so it must have been the camera angle.

Get her loyalty and change her attire. She looks better in black and ain't so 'in your face'.

Except cigarettes and alcohol are illegal for someone of that age to use as well, unless specifically given them by the parent to use within the house.  It's legal(here in the states at least) for a minor to drink alcohol, but only if given it from their parents and within their own home.

If you buy an M rated game or tickets to an R rated movie for someone underage, there's nothing illegal there.  Buying alcohol for a minor *is* illegal.

Strictly saying, yes. However if you do that (at least in Europe) and it will become public, school will intervene and a juvenile court can easily vote that you have "bad influence" (this is a real term) on your children and they can be taken away just like that. In some European countries juvenile courts have no mercy. Then, you can philosophize for yourself what was legal and what not.

You should probably state which country you're referring to.  Places like France have no minimum drinking age and places like McDonalds sell beer.

This isn't philosophy, this is what the law is.  The police could walk in and see your kid drinking a beer, if you gave it to 'em then they wouldn't do anything.  Might ask you if you gave it to them, might even question your parenting, but it's not illegal.

tl;dr

My advise here is: don't play a mature rated game when your 13 year old is watching, if that bothers you.

I noticed it too. And I thought it was ridiculous.

And I am not bothered by Jack's outfit actually.

There is no reason video games need explicit sex or nudity; if you are that horny use your goddamn internet browser.

Sex and nudity are part of life. There's no reason games tailored for adults SHOULDN'T have sex and nudity. Go walk around in your local mall, and you'll probably see way more than Miranda gives you.

I have no issue with it as this is a adult game.

As a parent with 2 kids, I normally follow all age markings on videos, games, etc. They are there for a reason. It is just like buying cigarettes and alcohol for underaged, also 18+ or 21+...

Do you also wrap everything in padding, block news channels and make sure that neither of them ever watch the discovery channel when it's doing a human biology piece?

Because we all know what happens when a 13 year old kid playes a game with gunfire it.  Yup.  Columbine, part II.  Playing doom is dangerous, right?

Maybe we should switch the ratings and the titles on game boxes. That way we can see the giant "M" and "T" and the like and then the actual game in the little corner.

But the focus on Miranda did get a little crazy sometimes. I understand using Yvonne Strahovski was a big deal and all...but still.

This thread is not about discussing me. My children are 3 and 6. The one, which is three is allowed to watch everything for 3 and below, while the one, which is 6, is allowed to watch everything for 6 and below. That is no naked bodies on the Discovery channel biology class whatsoever. I mostly prefer to read books though. I wouldn't like my children play Doom when they are 13. There are other games to play at that age.

People get upset about Miranda's clothing but it was written intentionally into her storyline. If her attire is offensive I suppose the best way to not be offended is not play it. "shrug"

Playing a 18+ rated game with a child is pretty just the same as watching a violent or a porn movie with him/her. Only difference is that abit of violence and strong language can easily force a game to get rated 18+ while a movie with similar content gets 12+ rated. Final, seriously why ppl are so upset when a game features some sex scenes or a heroine is very sexy?? and the same ppl dont mind at all about the gore and violence. Its insane..

I am not about to get into a debate about certification of this game. But on the subject of Miranda, that ****** is just horrid! Jack has it too and they put that or Miranda's ass right in your face at every opportunity. Seriously, how the hell is that woman suppose to stay alive with that sort of clothing and fighting in high heel boots. I can barely walk the length of a street in those sort of shoes never mind wearing them in combat!
You can make a woman come across as being confident and comfortable with her body without acting like a hooker.

Just my 5 cents......I have a 14 year old son. Yes I would allow him to play ME, nothing worse than he would get by watching the news!

obviously you never saw a woman used to wear highheels. my mother jumps, runs dowhatever in highheels with easy (actualy stilettos), heck she even runs faster then my girlfriend wearing sneakers. dont judge on this by comparing women who wear highheels only on occassion.

ah... all this chit-chat reminds me of when my pops gave me the 'birds & bees' speech. He literally said "get off on or in 'em as quick as you can & DO NOT hesitate to hurt their feelings. Beat them to the punch." Wonder why I have 2 theapists?!?

Who cares how much or how little exposure there is? It is rated M and if you have your 13 year old viewing it....it is your own fault not Biowares.

This.

Don't let him watch, or don't complain about the game.

It isn't made to be acceptable to 13 year olds. Do you suggest we ban any kind of sexual or violent content out of all games?

If you want your child to watch you so badly, play something that is more suitable for his age.

I'm not offended by Miranda's outfit. I just find it to be annoying when she is used for sex appeal. It breaks my immersion when half the screen is obscured by her ass.

Why would you let your 13 year old son view a rated M video game then complain about it?

I'm actually wondering how old everyone is on this forum. Not that I really care, but I wanna bet my 2cents that a lot of Mass Effect players aren't 18-years or older. My 17-years old nephew is one of the biggest Mass Effect fans I know, just saying.

What I wanna say is that I think game-ratings can be a little extreme sometimes. I mean, 18+ for a game like Mass Effect, seriously? I think if they would slam a 16+ on it, it would be just fine. It's not like 16 years old people don't know how to handle the content of Mass Effect. At least I know that in The Netherlands, most people from 16 or 17 years old are mature enough to play Mass Effect without any bad consequences. I don't know how mature the avarage 16-years old teenager in the USA is though.

so, you've got a problem with him seeing a (clothed) woman, but burned bodies, impaled Husks (that used to be humans) and the likes are OK? Seriously, that is just retarded... I have no problem with either, but still, it's just hypocritical to complain about something like this in a game where you get to see pretty gruel mounds of burned corpses or get to watch someone get dissolved by little bugs while still alive...
