Okay there are a lot of people that have gotten the quest and not the map icon for the town.

I finally fixed it...

step one.. go to the Addins folder in  my documents/bioware/dragonage/addins (this should be on your C drive)

drag the folder
dao_prc_cp_2 to your destop (or delete it I would recomend the desktop so worst case you can drag it back later)

then start launcher.

then click on  the configure button.

in the configure utility click repair ..
then click on the
Clear Download Cache...

then play game
go to the downloads menu on the main screen
you should have a redownload option for the Prisoner
redownload...
resume game and...
the Icon for the map should be there.

XD i iz smrt!

sorry Htorgrim, you are at the same part... talked to merchant, and have the rod for the golem?

I did it all when my game was saved in a party camp doubt that has anything to do with it.

Hope this works for others.

I have numerous savegames. So i took one where i was in partycamp, walked up to the merchant after your advise on how to fix it and it did nothing. Anyway thanks for the help, hope they fix their 'patch' soon.

I hear that it may be due to the 'path of conversation' you take with the merchant now.. and some conversations fail to place the map marker and the others do...this has not been confirmed so if you have the save game before, try different convo options and if one does work could you please post it? to help others... Shale for the win!

I tried different path conversations with the merchant and it still ends up the same way. I get the rod and "quest complete" pops up instead of "quest updated" which I assume is what should pop up when getting the rod. No map marker too so no Shale.

you are supposed to get a quest completed, the town part is a separate quest... sounds like you might have failed to get the 2nd quest somehow

I don't even get the first quest, it says the DLC is installed, but no quest, and the only merchant in my camp tells me to buy Wardens keep, why should I do that if I can't even get my free one working?

I also started a completely new character, she hasn't recieved anything for the stone prisoner either, all the other bonus items work, but just not this quest.

When you have talked to the merchant and it says the quest is complete :

- Go anywhere else on the world map.

- Save your game.

- Log out and quit the game.

- Restart the game, log in and load your save.

The icon should be there on the world map, now :)

The "stone prisoner" starts from a random encounter while traveling...

is it just me or is there a moderate memory leak ? my poor brother had to do the battle of redcliff 3 times until it changed over. same deal with the stone prisoner "ill mark the location on your map" but what the guy really says is "you just got punk'd" he did reload his game and he finally got to travel to honnoleth

thats why I haven't found any information on it, the only time I encountered a travelling merchant was travelling between denerim and the Dalish camp, Old Teghrin his name is, I have not encountered any other travelling merchants, he does not sell any control rod in his inventory.

the "memory leak" appears to be related to multicore processors (primarily AMD) single core users and those with affinity set to a single core other than the primary tend to have much better results. For myself, with a single core P4 3.2Ghz Hyperthreaded (OC'd to 4.9Ghz) I can run for upwards of 12 hours without seeing a load time over 45 seconds and that's with 2 gigs of RAM on XP SP3.

The Stone Prisoner doesn't start from a random encounter... a location (don't remember the name) appears in the map (and a log in the journal too), after installing the DLC.

THANK YOU!

I had a problem with Warden's Keep and not Stone prisoner and that fixed it all the same!

After doing the same process you described the Warden's Keep quest finally appeared in my journal!

The name of the folder for Warden's Keep is dao_prc_nrx_1 if anyone wondered.

Thank you again :).

I have tried this and it doesn't work. I'll try it again on a  different character that hasn't spoken with the merchant yet but I'm not holding my breath.

My copy of "Stone Prisoner" doesn't even get that far. I've played for over 30 hours and I've never gotten any random encounter, there is no log in my journal, and there is no marker on my map. The DLC shows as installed and enabled when I check it in-game, and I do get to loot crystals which are obviously meant to be equipped to Shale, but nothing else.

I also had no chance to redownload. Good thing I could move the folder back. But still no Honnleath on the map
