Awakenings and the 1.03 patch

According to the 9+ page thread in the technical forum, the 1.03 patch is a game-killer. Is this patch required for Awakenings? If so, I just went from 100% stoked to 0% and will put this purchase on indefinite hold.

Well, I'm thnking about copying my entire game folder over as a BU, then installing 1.03 and seeing what happens. I know the squeaky wheel gets the grease but it seems like a LOT of people are having a lot of trouble with this patch, and apparently it breaks pickpocketing pretty thoroughly. Not a huge issue for me because I don't play thieving characters for the most part, but I don't like it when a 'fix' causes other bugs.

You really think that BioWare would force us to use a patch that breaks the game... and then not do anything about it?
Well that's the impression about 10 pages worth of people in the technical forum currently have.
I will say this: I did what I was talking about earlier and have since cleaned out Aedeucan Thaig and started on Jarvia with the 1.03 patch and everything seems to be working okay for me so far. Had one strange glitch show up trying to break out of a conversation but it didn't crash the game or anything. Load times are a bit better and it seems to be running okay, so maybe I was worried about nothing, at least as far as my system is concerned.
All my installed mods seem to be working fine too.
Whew! Had me worried for a bit there that I was going to have to pass on Awakenings!!

I have patch 1.03 and I haven't encountered any problems so far. I think people are overreacting....
Is it overreacting to be upset when a game that worked fine will no longer play for 5 minutes without crashing or freezing??? And yes, once I rolled back to 1.02, everything was fine again... Go read the PC tech forum and be d@mned grateful you missed the problems rather than pan the many, many people who have them.
I was SO looking forward to Awakening, but if it needs 1.03 to play, I guess I'll have to wait!

My main concern is how 1.03 effects the mods. I heard they get all scrambled.
Mine works fine...

Really? Which one's are you using?
It's just what I heard, I haven't actually played on PC yet, saving up for one that'll play it like a dream. But i'm just the king of guy who worries about small things like this that won't be present for a while. I want a fully running, ship-shape, smooth as butter PC experience, with mods.

Short story,I have mods in almost every category, everything from cosmetic to pure mechanics and all of them are working just fine.

Mostly cosmetic ones, better bodies, dragon age redesigned, improved atmosphere, more hair, cc tints and colors, addonays weapon replacer etc. There's some other things too, one changes the archery tree around and such.

Nice, thanks. Any mechanical mods? I was planning on installing Combat Tweaks, Bow Modifier Changes, No Decaying Bodies, a couple more like that.
Thanks for your help.

Still haven't seen a crash or any other serious problems, though, and I notice the load times in Orzamar (where they usually get really slow for me) are waaaaaay better.

I have no decaying bodies. And all ranged weapons have been redesigned in my mods so everything should work unless there's something specific about my mods, which I doubt. I can not vouch for combat tweaks as I don't have it or have any idea what it does.
Take a look. It comes highly recommended by the denizens of DANexus. And thanks, you've assuaged my fears about 1.03.
