I think Wilson's primary motive was that he was simply a disgruntled employee, underpaid and underappreciated over his role in what he considered to be a miracle of medical science.

He may have also been under orders from TIM, as TIM calls Wilson a "mole". I don't think Wilson was working for the Shadow Broker, as it doesn't make any sense for TIM to knowingly let a spy for a rival endanger Shepard before s/he is awakened.

It was never explained, it's a plot hole for now (though it might explained in DLC or something)

I think the Shadow Broker/Collectors found Wilson to be the weak link in the Lazarus Project and offered him money for Shep's body. Wilson was greedy and also in lust with Miranda and not happy about being ignored by her, according to the recordings we find on the station.

I agree with this though i would like to add that Mirandas "leadership" is one of the primary factors.

To quote Jacob, "A bunch of mechs won't drop Miranda, she's alive."  You can't say TIM won't risk valuable people.  Look at the Collector Ship mission.  TIM sent Shepard into a trap, fully confident that Shepard would make it out alive.  He absolutely would risk Miranda like that.

Sure. But causing chaos at the base when Shepard might not even be able to fight yet, is just silly. Putting "assets" in danger if he believes it is worth it is one thing, being utterly wasteful is something else.

The Collector Ship betrayal is hardly the same situation (and I bet it's more for the benefit of surprising the player, really, more than actually making much sense). By the time the Collector Ship mission triggers, Shepard has proven that he can fight small armies with just two companions at his side.

Wilson was a traitor. He expresses surprise that Shepard is up and running and again at Miranda when she is on the other side of the door... Either bought off by the Shadow Broker, just pain Postal from not being appreciated enough or maybe even indoctrinated (pure speculation plot is Shepard was rebuilt with a lot of Reaper tech taken from the derelict, Harbinger 'activated' the derelict and Wilson was part of that team before he was assigned to Lazarus...)

 B) Wilson didn't betray anyone, the 'berserk' mechs were purposely loosed by TIM or Miranda to 'take care' of the Lazarus project staff and make Shepard trust them.

That's what I've always believed.

I don't think Miranda was in on it either, but I do believe she was lead to believe that Wilson did betray them.

I think it was a TIM, cleanup job. He had faith that Miranda and Shepard would be able to escape, and its not like its the first time he's gambled with their lives.

That is the only thing that makes me question the TIM theory.
