Try this to get your skills up. I only know this for 360 players. When you have your skills up to 3, and you have 4 or more skill points press X + A at the same time. It should level up your whole skill while keeping you at 4 or more skill points. I did it while I had 51 skill points because I retrained my skills and in the end I was left over with 51 skill points. It makes the game so easy.

Now that I think about it, I shouldn't have told people that.

Insanity is definitely challenging but doable, and this is coming from a rpg player that is incredibly bad at shooting games. If you're having trouble with insanity, pause often and familiarize yourself with giving commands to your teammates. Place them in optimal spots where they can attack any enemies from their position. A couple of hours and the combat will feel natural like the first game.

My insanity achievement was a ng+ soldier with the LMG. My strategy relied heavily on reave and keeping track of ammo. It was challenging yes, but impossible, hell no. And this was before I knew about the infinite skill points trick.

If you want a challenge, play ng+ insanity. If you want to enjoy the story quickly, play casual. Simple as that.

I played through it for the achievment (and yes I know the achievment if for any Insanity playthrough... so I should be named Shepard).  No I'm just trying to see if I can do it without have to hide behind doors and throwing out singularity to lower shields and stuff like that but... it is a pain.

So, you want to beat the game on insanity without using tactics. It doesn't feel... right to me.

i played my sentinel in NG+ insanity and i didnt have too much of a problem untill i got to the collectors ship. after a week of trying to take out the collectors on those platforms, i quit and decided to start a ME1 import soldier. i beat the game very easily in a few days. its almost rediculous how hard it is to get past those platforms. if harbinger knocks you out of cover, the stupid animation shepard does where he jumps backwards and shakes his head a few times is all it takes to die. you have to move left and right and try to dodge the harbinger blows becasue if you get knocked out of cover, your dead. as a matter of fact i absolutely hate when shepard gets knocked out of cover and shakes his head for about 3 seconds. it only means death on insanity.

some people who played the game a million times, or played certain parts a million times would say or think insanity is easy and call you a **** for not being as awesome as they are at ME2, but i agree with the OP, NG+ insanity is hard, some parts are virtually impossible.

i only play on veteran now because biotics are pointless on any other difficulty.
