And I agree, but I still don't think something like that would be said publicly.Dethateer wrote...
Actually, I've heard fairly bad things about gametesting... including seeing a news report in which a tester explained that she had to check every single possible route up a building in AC2. Game development must be even worse.
Unless it was behind closed doors, in one of those conference rooms filled with old white men and stale donuts. o.o

The last EA games I owned were DA:O and The Sims 2, both were okay. Do I trust EA with ME? Nope.

You should have seen the guys at Marxis in the Spore GE bonus disk. The guys were like kindergartners at the office... sitting on rugs and playing with Lego during meetings.

Their chef actually said that the working environment has to be based on fear and permanent stress and that there may not be any fun in making video games.
That is something Bobby Kotick (Activision-Blizzard President and CEO) said in a lecture to investors. He said he was "joking" but recent events at IW show otherwise (not a joke, at all).

I get that a lot of people hate EA for their past transgressions, even their more recent transgressions (like the way Mirror's Edge was handled) but EA has put in *significant* effort to stop being so overtly greedy and ruthless and to create a better connection to their gamer/consumer base. EA has been trying to find a soul, while Activision has willingly surrendered theirs for profit margins.
I 100% agree. EA has shown massive improvement and I continue to hope for improvement in the future.
I'm also really happy to se no flame wars broke out or anything, this forum seems to moderate itself most of the time, which is amazing.

Be happy that EA's douchebaggery pales in comparison to Activision.
You referring to their complete destruction and compromising of the Warcraft lore/franchise taking the soul of the series and replacing it with a spirit of commercialization?
At least for now IW is fighting Activision in court.

-Dragon Age Origins: Whats with the half recycled X-box 360 case? With the missing pie slice chunks that are taken out of it I get a flimsy crap game case.
-Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age: Both games suffer with the game manual. Compare ME1 game manual to ME2‘s. We went from a better quality paper and use of color including screenshots in color as well to EA’s finest toilet paper quality paper and everything in black and white. Hell my ME2 manual isn’t even complete, take a look at page 18 and 19 and see if you can find the rest of the deck descriptions for Deck 3 and anything on Deck 4 at all.

What I remember most fans requesting was for Bioware to fix there original ME. Patch fixes that never came. BTW which fans are we talking about PC's or Consoles?Besetment wrote...
Pretty much everything that was changed in ME2 was requested by fans. Now it turns out that some folks think they went too far but they would get just as much criticism for not going far enough. The GDC presentation showed the dilemma quite well when it says that small changes can snowball and completely change the way the game plays, even alienate fans. They wanted to make the shooting element better in ME2 and lets face it, it sucked in ME1. But in doing that it required big core changes to the way combat worked.
What we got I reckon was probably the best you are going to get without alienating too many new players and old fans. At least, I can't think of very many developers that could have pulled off that kind of coup what with the standard of videogame production being the highest its ever been.
I never was into the shooting part of ME. I was more into the game atmosphere and game fluff.. I have mixed feelings about ME2.. I'm like some of the improvements but hate others.
EA isn't on my favorite list of publishers. I'm not all convinced there all good and innocent.. Sorry I don't by it. They have pull and push.. They can change thing if needed should it fit there agendas.

EA's agenda is to make boatloads of money. Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2 are making boatloads of money. Logic suggests that EA will continue to allow Bioware to do their own thing as long as they're successful and given Bioware's history, they're more than covered on that front.

All bets are off now, I'm guessing there's more than a few people who, like me, bought this thinking they were getting a sequel to Mass Effect, not Quake. I'll guarantee you Bioware's lost their "I can blind buy their games" status with me, and I doubt I'm the only one.

Its no secret that most of you hate EA and for good reason, in the past they have been a horrible company and even today that stigma has stayed with them. When we look at DLC some of us think they're removing content so they can sell it back to us but have you thought that this might not be true? EA recently has been playing it very smart, Blizzard and BioWare both have control of their own game still and while EA might force some things like DLC's down their throat the DLC usually includes things that are either totally irrelavent, crappy, made after the fact or are so unbalanced they were removed for a reason (ahem, Arc Gun anyone?).
Hell even for Blizzard the only "DLC" they have is premium bnet accounts...so far.
We should stop ridiculing EA for the things they're holding back on for us, the fans and thank god Microsoft didn't buy BioWare or you can be guaranteed that half of the game would be outright removed and sold as dlC for an outragous amount of cash.
Be happy that EA isn't ruining BioWare just yet.
um... Blizzard is part of Blizzard/Activision... not EA... hell Blizzard is the reason EA doesnt have the highest Revenue of any third party publisher any more.
