Once I've finished on normal and have unlocked the hardcore option.  If I play through with my 50 again, can I set the option to hardcore?  Or do I have to start a new character at level 1 to get the hardcore mode?

Yes, you can change difficulty during the game. (And as long as you set it to Hardcore before leaving Eden Prime, you'll be able to get the Hardcore achievement if you complete the game on Hardcore.)

I've tried it several times, but it will not let me change it to hardcore on my level 50 on the new start up. I have to create a new level one to get it set to hardcore.



Is there something that I'm missing?

You might have to start at level 1 I guess. I don't really play new games with pre-existing characters, so I can't help with that one. Maybe make sure hardcore is set in the option before starting the new playthrough would help?

You should be able to start from the level 50 with no troubles on Hardcore mode or change it before the end of Eden Prime. I had mine set to Hardcore mode when imported the level 50.

Yep, I figured it out. I wasn't going down to where it says Quit and Save changes. /facepalm
