I've just completed my first playthrough. I always go with kind of an neutral good character at first just to get the feel of the game. This time I created a mage. I wanted him to only think about magic, power and getting rid of the Chantry. He doesn't believe in the Maker, and won't hurt you if you don't stand in his way.

But I just played the Circle of Magi part, and I was struck with an alliance with Templars and the task of cleaning the Tower. I didn't have the choiche to work with them or not. Is it me or is it the game that doesn't allow you to ask for the mage's help? In my first playthrough, I had the choice between asking the mages or the templars for help fighting the Blight.

Then I was hoping to forge an alliance with the Sloth demon. Then with Uldred. I want someone to teach me blood magic damn it! But no luck. My only option is to fight them. I was kind of disapointed to say the least. Especially since the Fade part is so boring. Same thing when I completed Warden's Keep, I hoped Avernus could teach me a trick or two, but like in my first playthrough, he just goes in his Tower and is never seen again.

My goals in the game are to tell Loghain I won't fight him as long as he cuts our dependance over the Chantry, use Alistair as a king puppet if Loghain isn't cooperative, and as a last resort marry the Queen to wage a war against the Chantry if nothing else works. Also, to fight the Chantry, I'd like at some point to become a Libertarian or an Apostate.

So is any of this possible? Or am I trap with no possibilites of demonic alliances? Do i just have to fight the Blight and nothing else? Or can I have a personal agenda? Please don't spoil me on anything, just tell me if it's possible or not. Because the "evil" lines of dialogue are not really my thing, my character is a practical man who doesn't see the use in alienating people if it's not necessary.

I don't think it's possible to answer your questions without spoiling you, but I can say that I think you want to do things that the game won't allow, in general. Certain kinds of alliances could be seen as being at odds with your goals as a warden.

As we are in the spoiler section I will say this. You can request that the mages be given their independence from the Chantry at the very end of the game.

I doubt you can *team* with an abomination . The only way to be an abomination partner it's to become one yourself and lose your self-awareness.Uldred want to make you an abomination. That what *giving you power* mean to him.

Also getting ride of the Chantry .. Why?PPl tend to think it's bad what they're doing to the mage .. But if mage were not under control it's could become chaotic. With blood mage popping everywhere.

Also Mage can easily become abomination .. The ritual mage go through's neccesary imo .Because demon are attracted to mage power .It's always a risk that a mage become an abomination . Just 1 sec of Hesitation(wynne) and you can become one.

Imo i think the qun would be better than the chantry though .. Mage would be much more under control!

Your chance to become a blood mage comes during the demon quest at Redcliffe Castle. You don't get a chance to battle or defy the Chantry during the game. If you want the Templars at the final battle, then you'll have to do what they want regarding the mages in Broken Circle. As a Gray Warden your primary goal is to battle the Blight, which limits your personal agenda. You were asking some very specific questions, so I couldn't really answer you without giving some general spoilers.

Well duh! You are a grey Warden. At most you can be a ruthless grey Warden that wins the blight by any means necessary. But no one becomes a grey Warden because they want power and moment they do become a grey Warden, all personal agenda's are shelved.

Also, no one but no one will help you take on the chantry. You don't have an army at your disposal to pull that kind of crap. Your allies are there to fight the blight and nothing more. Even suggesting fighting the chantry will most likely cause people to walk out on you. Also, Alistair isn't much of a puppet either. He would not be your puppet in fighting the chantry even if that was an option. I think you are over estimating your influence as a grey Warden. You only have influence when fighting Darkspawn and the Blight.

Your goals as stated are just not possible but there are alternatives you might find more or less intriguing depending on your point of view. Just...play and try to have fun making choices you are given as close to what you would do if you were the mage.

PS. Even being a bloodmage doesn't matter as a Grey Warden because Grey Warden's do not have a ban against blood magic. Anything needed to stop the blight being the motto of many grey wardens.

I think there's a way for you to kill the whole lot of Templars stationed at the Circle Tower. That might get your rocks off a bit, since your PC hates the Chantry.
