Finally. I had the same prob. Fail after patching to 1.03. Just change the compatibility mode and now works. Thanks guys for posting.

I have windows XP sp3. I had the same problem extracting ep1_core.rar: it would lock up for a moment then give me a failed installation message. I used the advice of changing compatibility mode to windows 2000 and tried it again. That worked great! So many thanks

 I have the same problem. Did try to change compability but it didnt work so I uninstalled it and reinstalled it again but this time without updateing to 1.03 before the installation of awakening. That didn do it either. Whats the problem?!?! I cant see why i cant install it

Same thing for me.  Using Win 7 64bit and I had trouble installing untill I read this. I had to uninstall DA:O. then I reinstalled and added DA:OA with compatibility mode set to win xo sp 3.

I Finally got it to install after so many install failures.

Anyone have a reason why it would not install in a normal situation before?

Same problem as everyone else. Log indicates unrar.dll. What's different for me is that i'm unable to change compability mode. Installation won't start at all when I change it. If I change it for another process (firefox, internet explorer etc) it works just fine.



F*cking pathetic by bioware, honestly. I love almost all games they've released but this is a big screw up from their side and lousy support in not fixing in considering it's been out for MONTHS

Install it in safe mode utimately solves the rar problem.

People, just install the game with compatibility mode it worked for my friends and other acquaintance.
