I wanted a manshep save without a romance and couldn't bring myself to reject Liara.  So my solution was to simply not recruit Liara until last Posted Image Like after every side quest and everything, there just wasn't the time for all the convos that lead up to a romance.  Rescue Liara, get forced to the citadel, run off to Ilos, game done.
Oh, and Ashley died on Virmire, not that I really romanced her anyway... Just better safe than sorry Posted Image

Currently working on a male Shep myself for the Tali romance too. Sounds like I'm going to have a hard time of it as well. Never realized that Liara falls in love with you one way or another because I've always romanced her. Her awkwardness is too adorable to resist.

Speaks volumes about Bioware that they can make us care so much though. Suppose I'll just have to ignore her, which is just as bad as rejecting her lol... poor Liara all alone down there with no Shep coming to talk, and I ended up recruiting her first because she's vital to my squad.

I was just going to just roll my male Shep straight into 2 and skip 1 but that feels wrong. No connection with the character. What a conundrum.:pinched:

I've just finished Feros now, and I'm surprised that there is no way to turn Ash down through conversation. Even after I told Liara I only saw Ash as a friend, it seemed as if the only choice that mattered in that conversation was my choice to turn down Liara. Even worse, after Ash tells you about her grandfather and asks if you're still interested in her (I never was, you moron!), all the answers are ""yes"!

I wonder if I actually will feel guilty when I leave her on Virmire. If I do...damn, I don't know what I'll do.

Is there truly a point of no return on Ash? I guess you just can't be interested in hearing people's personal stories or they get the wrong idea.

Unless they're Wrex.

I found it very easy to avoid romancing Liara.  She does not appeal to me on any level (save that she is female), but you just don't pursue all the conversation options.  Only enough to feel like you get to know the character a little bit, and once to check on her after you kill Benezia.  That's it.
