But ok... the game souns good enough... I mean it's an expansion it's not like a new game... Only the ending it's "scaring" me...
You're not the only one.

What's the point of introducing new characters, giving us new skills, armor, weapons, crafting...
if its all over in just a few hours? People are speculating about the possible release of Dragon Age 2 next year, but after DA: Origins and now DA: Awakening I'm still left wondering, where is Dragon Age: Meat-And-Potatoes. I was holding off on getting all the DLC till after Awakening came out, since they are all short and I figured it would be better to get them together and have a larger bundle of new content to play through. But seeing as how almost nothing carries over into awakenings I'll probably skip the other DLC completely (except maybe RtO) , and hold off on Awakenings till at least their next major expansion release.
I think someone is making some poor strategic design/production decisions over there at Bioware or EA.

After quickly glancing at the op, I understood (and correct me if I am wrong, without spoiling), that the ending was abrupt and not like Origins. Well that doesn't sound so bad. Origins had tons of choices with great consequences, so a long and detailed epilogue coudl be made. I didn't expect Awakening to be the same.
But the absence of any hints about other stories is troublesome yes. I really don't want the sequel so soon, I was expecting another expansion and that Awakenign would hint at it heavily. But I guess I have to play the game and see for myself whether it does hint at something or no.

they removed romances cause they needed to reduce dialogue lines.
In fact they removed free dialogue options in camp calling them (laundry list...cit david gaider) and allowed chat only when characters have an icon on their head.
No "laundry list" means no different options of dialogues to register and less voice over and less costs.
I fear that dragon age 2 will be similar to this more mass effect style more hack n'slash.
well dragon age was a really good game but ended with origins for me

Gah, I don't know. But like I said, this is one guy's opinion, so I'll take it for what it is. A pity that us Europeans have to wait until the 19th (and this is if Play.com actually delivers my copy on the release date, something I very much doubt)

You forgot the "" above streamlined, I hope they dont "streamline" DA like ME, if so I will probobally not play future games, ME1 I played around 6 times, ME2 has about 1 (2 if you include me going back to choose a different import about half way through)AndreaDraco wrote...
I admit that I'm too pretty concerned about the abrupt ending without any hint to the future, at least for this character. Right now, though, that thing that bothers me the most is that I can't really and fully understand the new companions' interaction. I'd hate to see it streamlined like in ME2, while, on the other hand, some tweaks can certainly be welcome, of course.

Do you mean to imply that Origins is in any way short or small?MichaelFenris wrote...
See this pretty much confirms my biggest fear right there.

As for Dragon Age 2, the way I look at it is that most of the man hours in the development of Origins were probably not things that would have to be redone for the sequel: the engine will be an iteration of the existing engine, the gameplay is already solid, the world well-developed—DA2, I would think, would need only a story arch of its own (whether a direct continuation of the first or not) and additions/tweaks to existing mechancis. I think that seems a very reasonable fit into 1-2 years of development, and that's not considering how much may very well have overlapped with the development time of Origins.
In a nutshell: I think that the difference in workload between creating a franchise (a brave new world, as the song goes) and creating a game is not insubstantial.

Right now the thing that most concerns me is the ending- I hope its not necessarily as grim as I'm thinking it may be right now, but at least the OP got me mentally prepared to lower my expectations a bit.

Honestly, at this point I don't really care what else they've screwed up with Awakening - all I want is for my character to not get unceremoniously killed off for good in the end. If I can just have that much, I'll be content.

At this point I might be with you- if you have dirt low expectations, its awfully hard to be disappointed, right?

I love DAO But this expansion seems as I thought it would be, lacking, half hearted, disapointing and a rush job, just quickly put out as a cash grab. I'd rather have a much more polished product and pay more for it. So Iam going to save my $'s for something better.
Iam sort of happy with my characters ending in Origins, she seemed to have a happily ever after ending with Alistair as his loving queen, even though it seemed like there were lose ends saying it's not the end, there's no way I want to spoil it by playing Awakenings. And having it turn to a bad ending. I'll just pretend my character spent the rest of her days happy with Alistair and occasionally off fighting dark spawn.

No. They removed romances because it didn't make any sense, gameplay or storywise, for the expansion. And it wouldn't make any sense for a 15 hour game.

If it is a bad ending, I think most fans will ignore Awakening.
