"...sometimes I go Renegade."

Just wondering what people's favorite out-of-alignment (but not necessarily out-of-character) moments are. I usually play a straight down the line Paragon (what can I say? I like to help people), but sometimes I just have to...

* Compare "weapons" with a certain Batarian who mistakes me for a stripper.

* Head-butt a Krogan

* Set a long-winded krogran on fire when he talks about eating Salarian babies

What about you?

What happens if you -don't- do that?

Pushing a mercenary out of the window. Good flight.

The renegade intimidate is much more satisfying.

I dunno. I could never resist hitting the renegade button.

I pretty much always do Renegade interrupts when it involves taking down an enemy.  Not stuff like the guy at the window, where his weapon isn't ready and there's a potential to talk him out of fighting, but ones like the start of Miranda's loyalty mission and the monologuing villain in Mordin's loyalty mission; chances are these guys ain't gonna surrender when they're already facing off with you with weapons drawn, so why not get the drop on them?

And I know people have tried to explain it to me before, but I STILL don't get how shooting a MECH in the head during an interrupt gets you Renegade points, but shooting him in the head five seconds later is a-okay.

I always play a Paragade, I say smart-ass stuff and intimidate criminals while being nice to nice people and usually choosing the paragon choice in quests

(though I usually play through each dialogue a couple of times so that Shepard finally says exactly what I want him to say)

That's the interrupt. The actual red text option is different.

Yea, I went with the intimidate option, seeing as how that renegade interrupt was shown quite often in preview vids so I kinda knew what was gonna happen.  Shoving him up against the window just enough to crack it felt much better.

this might as well be mandatory because i cant think of a possible reason to not hit the interrupt here. in my mind i feel like if i dont hit the interrupt the game will freeze from lack of possibility. LOL

this. I had plans to try and convince the krogan on mordins loyalty mission not to fight, but after hearing his monologue, i decided the galaxy would be a better place without him :P

You're working to hard

*Stabs in the back*

That is one of my favorites because it was the first renegade inter-up I came across on my first play through. I certainly took me by surprise.

shoddy attempt at ROE

lame i know

take for example in Star Wars, Mos Eisley - Han Solo vs Greedo

Original version = Han Solo "renegade interrupt" by shooting Greedo in cold blood under the table.

Retcon version = Han Solo "paragon interrupt" by shooting Greedo in "self defense" after being shot at first.

same scene, same outcome, like how in mass effect, the headshot amounts to the same thing with or without the interrupt.

the reason why it changes from renegade to paragon in SW:SE is because the "ROE" (rules of engagement) is changed to a different context (dont fire until fired upon)

same with ME2.

It's all shades of gray to me. If given the choice between charm and intimidate options, I'll pick based on the context. I'd sooner threaten a crook with a gun than try to sweet talk him, but with regular people, the opposite is true. With interrupts, though, I can't really think of an instance where I've refrained from using them.

There are a few I don't understand, though. Why is it a renegade action to shoot the drone ( or is it a Salarian? I forget, makes no difference ) in Archangel's recruitment mission? I mean, you're going to kill them seconds later anyway, I don't see what the big deal is.

The only one that felt slightly out-of-character for me was pushing the mercenary out of the window. I mean ... he does insist he's not going to say anything, and I'm on a mission, in a hurry ... but still.

I am commander Shepherd. I am a Paragon. But I am prompt happy. When something flashes on the screen, there is this compulsion to press the right mouse button.

Sometimes I have shot people without meaning to, and there was this time I punched a guy, but I am actually really really nice.

Paragade's definitely the way to go. I've done (and love) pretty much every Renegade interrupt besides throwing the merc out the window and interrupting Mordin.

Shooting that asari merc during Samara's recruitment was fun.
