Downloads fine. On install, gets up to 10% overall. . .13% bottom bar. . .stays there for a looong while, then zips up to 100% and install remains there permanently. System doesn't lock up. . .am able to use PS button and quit.
Have tried:
1) deleting patch, and re-downloading/installing. . . .no dice
2) formatting HD and re-installing. . .no go.
If more info is needed, I can provide. Brand New PS3.

do this:
go to system > network settings > media server connection > disable
try the update again. hope that helps.

I deleted game data, then disabled Media Servers. . .still hung up the same way.

Eve if it says "technical support" I am afraid that this is more like "Self help support" or something like that. There is a sticky thread with the links for the official support...I guess you found it by now
