Me trolling?...only reason i even posted was to try and halt the daily postcount from you, bro.  Sorry for tryin to bring some humor to the thread and I wasn't even aware the old site redirected here, so i guess 'my bad'...it is an oddity, though, since Jedi didn't even know he was apparently responsible for it.

The only suggestion i can offer is to buy physical as apposed to digital - I almost always have an always will simply due to the fact I've witnessed too many problems like yours (the main reason I've never gotten into MMOG's, but tOR looks tempting).  As far as technical help, this is obviously a Bioware server-side issue so its up to them to fix it...until they wisely decide to employ me, that is.

Most of the time I do as well, most of my steam games are from hard copy as well. But when Jade came out I couldn't get a disk copy. So I thought buy it from the developer, they shouldn't pull it right? Apparently wrong now that Bio is part of EA and Jade was published by 2k (I think) Ive no illusions that its the change to EA that has caused this, and that has screwed with the publishing agreements.

But I still have the game registered at bioware.com all they can do is ignore my requests for access to my game, put access back up, or not. It would be nice to have a proper explanation of why. At the moment it just feels like they took my money and ran - without the courtesy of saying why.

Certainly a telling example of the problems of digital downloads and DRM that I should have learnt from the music industry and their turning off of drm servers (Microsoft, Wallmart, yahoo etc). With Microsoft there was an outcry and the server was turned back on, and at least there you could burn them to a cd. But here there hasn't been even a comment on how to get access to what I paid for.

I may have to pay for it again on steam, getting a retail copy ebay may be the best way but the only ones I can find cost more than buying from steam. To be frank it annoys me to pay bioware for it twice when they took it away from me in the first place. I just hoped bioware would do better than this considering so much of what they are offering now it tied online.

I agree with your point about buying retail harcopy but this certainly doesn't bode well for Ubisoft game and future EA games with their always on DRM How many years and off no more game, Unless there are "community" ways to continue using them. No need to discuss that further as I don't want the thread locked before I get some answers.

i'm still in a back and forth with gs support for my jade empire game. never buying digital again after this mess. i have to admit that at least they're trying to help. they just keep giving me things that create new problems. they gave me a new download link that asks for a code key that i don't have. they give me a key and then the download manager no longer works. fun stuff this digital download. hard copies from here on out.

BioWareStore Jedi wrote...

Hey Guys - I tend not to comment on posts that are not related to the new store as I don't have a lot to add or help. However, I can completely understand your frustration and I'll see if Chris can let me know where to point you to get some help.

Well I think we can conclude from the continued silence that bioware just doesn't want to know. They have our / my money and I have no game anymore.

So what do we take away from this?

1 Don t buy digital copies of games with activation drm

2 Don't expect devs to unlock copies of their games when they apparently drop support even if its still on sale.

3. Biowares customer service is apparently non existent.

I could simply get a pirate copy for free and play. I wont simply because I know that bioware has now stolen from me (yes in my veryy annoyed opinion taking something from that I have paid for is steeling - that thing pirates do strange that) and I wont gratify them with the appropriate response.

Great games but guys this has been just pathetic.

Generally and simply, the hierarchy doesn't care about the single person. They need to care about the 'school of fish', almost never the single one; it just seems to happen with corporations and, afterall, its logically sound. I truthfully understand your perspective, but as your posting in a forum that I like to think I try to represent, your words are starting to be a bit more harmful than I'd like. As I previously said, Jedi is the only Bioware rep who checks into these forums and has amazingly cared for singular individuals several times beyond most (if not all) expectations when concerning the Bioware Store and 'Customer Service'...while it also seems obvious that he has no direct control over your predicament, and since your posting in the thread and yielded no fruit, i may suggest going about your protest through another means...say, maybe starting a group?

I totally agree that life isn't fair and I've had to put up with my own fair share of insufferable consequences (even from EA/Bioware or its subsidiaries, no less) but what your doing isn't hardly helping your point anymore than its helping solve world peace or (more viable) helping these forums...please, find another way.

While I appreciate your thoughts Dsurian, you do seem to try to help people which is most welcome, but why this makes you think you represent others I don't know. I'm sure some agree with you that I am whining, In a way I am, but I am perfectly within my rights to do so. I and other have been wronged. You may not like that I am complaining, your posts seem to indicate this, but I have every right to do so.

Please dont fall under the delusion that just because you post in this forum and are generally helpful that you represent the opion of other forum users, Im sorry to put it harshly but you dont. Your opinion is your own as is mine. This forum is public and my opinion is just as valid as your own and while you may think they are harmful in some nebulous way, and to what I arent sure, that does not take away from the fact that they are from my perspective very true.

By Customer service I was not just referring to Jedi, but failing to give any response even "No one can help" is less than satisfactory this is his job after all. The lack of any response from others to serveral polite pm's is even worse.

If using the forum, sending pm's etc does not work I fail to see why trying to form a group , which is even harder to find would help. I certainly don't have time to manage such a thing nor should I have to do so.

For me this whole sordid mess is at a close. I dont intend posting on this matter again, I certainly wont by buying anything digital from Bioware again if it has any form of online activation.

I don't think it's Jedi's responsibility to care for something that was on the "old" store. He probably wasn't responsible for the old store, and is only responsible for the "new" store. The new store also seems to be "outsourced" (quite a popular word in Germany, my father's outsourced as well). So he seems to do his best to reach someone responsible but no one seems to feel like being responsible as the digital downloads on the old shop were probably outsourced as well. (I love this phrase: probably outsourced. :sarcasm: It can be used to explain so many vague things.)

I still can only offer my sympathies but as I said before: sh*t happens. And not only to you. (So far the stuff that isn't working and that no one feels responsible for sums up at 1,200 USD. Forever gone.)

I am sorry, but we no longer offer downloads of Jade Empire. Please contact 2K, the publisher, for further support.

I wanted this to be here on this thread, as a future reference.

I have a similar problem: I still have unused gift codes for the old NWN Premium Modules. Is there any way to use them or change them into new BioWare Points at last?
