is awakening really worth $40?

Let it be known that I'm really not one that judges a product before it's even released. Hell, I'll buy it regardless just because it's Bioware. But is it possible that if the reviews are correct, that Bioware is actually starting to cut some corners? This expansion is the same price as the retail game, but it's only 1/4th of the content? I really dont know why this expansion is being rushed out the door only a few months after the original game's release, but it just sets off very loud alarms about future Bioware games ...including TOR.
That is of course if the reviews I've seen hold any water.

It's an expansion. Don't go in expecting a full game.
Then why is it priced the same as the original full game? I could justify the expansion arguement if it only cost $20 or something. But they're charging the same price as the full retail game.

Origins was 49.99; while Awakening is ten bucks too high for an expansion, it IS an expansion. Always has been marketed as that and nothing more. Price has nothing to do with content.
In all honesty it seems like a rip off. Market it as an expansion and sell it for full retail. Whats the point of even making a new character in this 'expansion' if you only have 8 hours of content to play through?

They say it has more content then most full retail games, but that was either a lie, or they were comparing it to like shooters and everything.
Nowadays, most full games last less than ten hours.

I'm assuming you purchased a 360 or ps3 version. I paid 50 for it when it was released. A week later they dropped the price by $10 across the board and now i think its $40 for everyone. Could be wrong so dont quote me

I think it was more expensive for consoles
I bought the collectors edition for the PC & it was the same price as the regular game for the 360

i call bull. comparing most games to cod or other shooters that rely on online multiplayer isnt a fair comparison at all. rpg games like fallout for one and even some shooters like bioshock are well over 20 hours long.

As much as I want the expansion, I may wait till the price drops before I buy it.
Honestly? Biowares fault for setting the bar so high. Origins will be a tough experience to beat, dollar for gaming dollar.
I'll likely wait till awakenings is $20. In the meantime, continue to work with the toolset.

Origins was the best $50 I've ever spent on a game, the DL content was "ok", but not really worth the price total content wise. (in comparison to the full game)

and this is probably what ill do too. $40 for this expansion is setting the bar too high. this isnt the sims EA you cant just throw together garbage expansions with a little bit of extra content and price it whatever you want. Sims fans are sick of it and im amazed bioware is letting them do the same with dragon age.
