Problems after intalling patch

I noticed there is the letter a at the end of the patch file name. Does this mean there has already been one revision?

I'm having the exact same problems.

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit, too. I cry! =(

Installing the C++ redistributable didn't solve the desktop shortcut. Essentially, the desktop shortcut points to the Dragon Age button in the 'GAMES' folder, and THAT'S broken. I can't even right-click it to bring up a menu. I have to start the game by either going into the autorun on the DVD, or going straight into the DA folder and using the DAoriginslauncher program. This does not bode well for my Dwarf.

After patch introduction screen pops up. Can click on start game but wont work. Being an old Baldurs gate player I am not pleased with BIOWARE (and its silentness). People better dont install this patch or better play WoW

Yea really I havn't logged in my wow account since I got this might have to go play it while waiting.

I just installed the 1.01 update and I'm now having the same problem. The startup menu load but clicking on the play button does nothing.

Vista 32bit.

I hope bioware gets this fixed asap.

I guess I'll go back to WOW.

Got off the phone with them and they could not correct any of the problems. While trouble shooting actually encountered another problem that they could correct either.

He said he had to escalate and I will get a email response in 48-72 hours.

I chose to reinstall the game, without uninstalling; did not need to reuse key code. Haven't yet played it, but the game did launch like it's supposed to. I also can't find anywhere in he options or UI where the version number is. I'll post again if this worked - without having to restart a game due to character dialogs rewinding.

Bad news is that now my game keeps basically rewinding, like Mavraszune. So now i am starting the game over. =(


I cant even do that if I wanted to. It crashes after a few minutes of running every time and the technician I talked to on the phone couldnt help me with that either.

Character dialogs seem to be working fine for me. But I don't know if the game version reverted back to 1.0 or not.

To get the game version, click "configure" to launch the configuration tool, then click on "game" at the left to see the versions of things.

Concerning startup problem after installing patch 1.01a



Thanks a lot abyssaldeth1, your C++ microsoft update worked fine for me so I can access to the game via my shortcut.

Uninstall Dragon Age v1.03



Seems the game reverted back to 1.00. I'm fine with that. I much prefer a working prepatched game over a broken patched game.

Thats good to know, at least it was playable. With so many problems from so many people I wonder how this got thru QA.

This has to be the most botched up game releases I have ever seen.

Well... I was hoping to work on my Warrior before I sleep...

I'm guessing a fix will be up by tomorrow. It's not just the game that won't start, the actual game is acting weird.
