We know that defeating a demon in the Fade will save the mage it has been posessing. Case studies: Connor Guerrein and Fiona.
In the Tower of Magi, a sloth demon drags you into the Fade, where you defeat it.
Should that not have freed the mage it had been posessing?
That the body had been altered should be irelevant; so had Fiona's.

I think that he had already, uhhh, eaten (?) the soul of the person he possessed. I could be wrong, but in the Mage origin, the demons refer to you as a snack, so I would assume that is what they do. And when the person's soul is gone, there's nothing to save.

Sloth has been feeding of Niall, but he didn't possess Niall's body. Actually, we don't know what happens to the abomination's body it was possessing... maybe he/she is simply resting on the floor
Anyway, since it was the body of an abomination, and since the Warden would have killed the abomination nonetheless, perhaps they simply spared us

See the pride demon in the asunder quest.
Edit: Nah, disregard this.
2:nd Edit: But there is that desire demon doing the same thing as sloth. I don't get how that one worked, did she already have one and get him too or what.
