Howdy y'all just a quick question, when im running around in the Dalish Elf forest, when I go talk to Grand oak to complete his quest the game freezes. Now its no biggie if I just avoid the tree area the game won't freeze. I'd just like to know if this will be adressed in a patch or in the current patch.

I have the same problem. It doesn't even let soft reset my computer. I figure it's got something to do with my computer but it runs stable in every other game. I turned off framebuffer effects and disabled multiple render targets and I got past the grand oak. Now I have a similar problem with some Hallas in the next area. Everytime I look at them for some time the game freezes. Oh and the same thing happened when I look at the sky in the Warden's Keep area.

I'm running Win7 64-bit on a C2D E6750 @ 3.2 with a ATI 3870. And I have the German CE (patched to 1.01) which has been delayed for a day, because of a production error according to Amazon.de if that has anything to do with it.

Okay cool, after poking around the area the true area that's causing the freezing is the camp behind the tree, the one time I got past the oak the ground wouldn't even show up it just showed the waterfall right beside it. I'll try using what you did and hopefully I won't have to many problems after that.

Edit:

I have installed the new patch to no avail, hopefully they patch this quickly as I would like not to skip this quest and start a new one. Anyways thanks again guys.

Those woods are killing me!! I must have started my PC the tenth time by now. Everytime there's a group of Hallas on screen it completely eliminates my PC. Had some monitoring software running while playing it and nothing's hot, I still have lots of resources but it still crashes my PC. I've never run into problems like these so I don't know what it is but it sure is annoying. I'll be playing this game on lowest settings until I'm out of the woods. Hope that helps.

Yeah while in the woods at this exact location my game Corrupted rendering all my Text invisible and forcing any of the games NPC names to use a data base reference code instead of the name. It wont let me chose dialogue options any longer

IDK what is with your games or pcs. Mine runs just fine. Maybe your pcs are having a hard time rendering the trees? Have you tried running the game on low settings and going through the quest? Thats what id do

This thing was dead and buried for the past year.  AFAIK, none of the gamers involved are still around.  Only one of them ever mentioned any hardware that might key in to some diagnostics, so most of them didn't have much interest in getting any fix.  Since they didn't care, you should have left the thing in the graveyard.

This is the first link to the problem on Google, so it doesn't seem as if there is a fix for this =(
