Who is your mage? What are they like? What are their feeling about Thedas and the Circle of Magi?

Name: MozLawn
Race: Elf
Gender: male
Origin: Mage, Dalish (father)
Orientation: Heterosexual
Specialization: Arcane Warrior
Enchanter Faternity: Libertarian
Occupation: Grey Warden, Sword for hire
Dream: Immortality

My Mage is MozLawn Surana, a name given to him by the circle. His full name is Mozelyan KeLawn which was given to him by his Dalish father (whome we dont know much about) and his Apostate mother who fell victim to the Chantry's Law and was persecuted as being maleficarum. Though it is vague he still remembers when he was first brought to the tower, but everything before that remains a blur. The nightmare of his past and his mother’s death still haunts him till this day. (Darkspawn blood didn’t make it any better).

He is an experienced suave speaking Elf who has a keen eye for with the ladies. His skills in magic are unorthadox and in that sense unmatched. He likes teventer style robes and staves, and he specializes in the ancient elven arcane warrior arts. He uses a wide range of elemental attacks, but his preferred style of combat would be wielding ??? loaded with runes. He has a thirst for knowledge especially for old or forgotten magic. He typically doesn't use Forbidden magic, but he is ever eager to learn more about it.

He is the type that goes in for the big kills such as Dragons, Elite Bosses, and the like, and leaves the fodder for the rest of the team. He prefers his companions to be skilled in both raged and CQC. Very rarely does he invite other mages along on his quest, though sometimes Morrigan insists and there's no shutting her up. He believes she just wants to pester Leliana. He accepts all companions willing to join his cause and is willing to spare the lives of all of who are deserving. He makes good moral decisions unless it involves fornication with a pretty lass then the world is doomed.

He has a strange love interest is Morrigan which is unexplained, though it may have something to do with his mother being an apostate. Though he does spend most of his time with Leliana putting her talents to use, he romances her in return for a job well done. He's not a fan of monogamy for sure. Gheyna of the Dalish, and Captain Isabella of the Sirens Call (whom which both Lelianna and Zevran joined for the night), not to mention the Desire demon in the fade (as every stares is disgust, some things are better left secret). He still has plans for Bella of Redcliff; she has a promise to make up to him. What about Kaitlyn?! We’ll see soon enough, and one day that darn Queen Anora when Allistor's away.

Taiyama

Taiyama

Name: Taiyama Surana
Race: Elf
Gender: Male
Origin: Mage, City Elf parents from Denerim
Orientation: Heterosexual
Specialization: Spirit Healer
Enchanter
Fraternity: Libertarian after he sees what everyone goes through in the Circle quest just for freedom from the Chantry--better to free the mages so they won't cause such violence rather than persecute them or keep such a potent force down.
Occupation: Grey Warden.
Dream: Ending the darkspawn forever by destroying the source of the taint--be that the Black City or whatever, he wants to find a way to end the Blights forever.

Though I write about him here a lot, I figured I'd do this just for kicks.

Taiyama was born in the Denerim alienage to *name deleted* and Aryanna Surana (I'm keeping the name of his father a secret because it's a plot point in the fanfiction linked above). He didn't show any magical talent until the age of six, so he remembers a few things about the Alienage and does remember being taken to the Circle. HIs parents were one of the few who didn't immediately reject a son with magical talent but didn't resist the templars when they came.

Taiyama before and during the first part of Dragon Age: Origins is a very soft-spoken, shy person who's honestly a good deal of a doormat. He's a coward in the sense that he gets very scared easily and sometimes chickens out, unable to respond in a fight when he's needed. Despite that, he's a very nice and moral person who will always help others, even if it means putting himself in danger (which he's very much afraid of). He has massive self-esteem issues until the Circle Tower. Being forced to endure the Fade (a place he's afraid of after his Harrowing) by himself completes what had been a gradual transition up to that point and he becomes far braver, more charismatic, and a very good tactical leader.

He is a very merciful (he makes Loghain a Grey Warden because he believes that everyone has the right to redeem themselves of their sins), very determined person who is absolutely focused on his duty as a Grey Warden. He devotes his entire life to helping others and has a strange skill where given enough time he can make just about anyone, no matter who they are, believe in him and be willing to die for him (in the game, I managed to get everyone massively inspired by Taiyama except Loghain, who I only got to moderately inspired). The fact that he forgave Loghain and in the end called him "friend" says a lot about his personality.

Taiyama is a very high damage dealer (he does 61-65% of the damage of my party and I almost always use the same party everywhere), specializing in elemental magic and curses. He's also a Spirit Healer who stands in backup to Wynne. There have been more than a few fights I've ended with Taiyama alone before anyone could get a single shot in.

He's very much in love with and devoted to Leliana (who is unhardened). The main team he uses throughout the game is Alistair (substituted by Loghain after the Landsmeet), Wynne, Leliana, and himself.

Anyway, I've rambled enough. I'll leave you with a quote of Taiyama's that explains just how he's The Fettered.

"A mage does not generate power himself, but channels the natural forces of the Fade, converts it, and unleashes it for his purposes. In a sense, that is source of the phenomenal willpower people tell me I have. So many people rely on me whether they know it or not. All of the crushed dreams of those who are lost to the Blight and the civil war...all of the hopes of those still alive... All of the wishes, what-ifs, and could-have-beens of all those--human, elven, dwarf, qunari, golem--who died fighting against the Blight and for the future throughout history. I take it all in... I take all their suffering and hope, and I turn it into power. I fight because of them and I must press forward no matter what for their sakes: so the living can live, and so the dead did not die in vain. That is why I'll never give up no matter what the odds are!"

Name: Khandras Amell
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Origin: Mage, Human
Orientation: Heterosexual
Specialization: Arcane Warrior
Enchanter Fraternity: Libertarian, he has never liked the way things are at the Circle and longs for it to be free of the Chantry.
Occupation: Grey Warden.
Dream: That magic can be practiced without the scrutinizing gaze of the Templars or the Chantry.

The only life Khandras knew was the suffocating prison that was the Circle of Magi. While he was there he had learned to be overly cautious and even paranoid of the Templars who watched his every move. He can't remember anything from before the Circle, although he has tried to imagine what it may have been like on many an occasion. Perhaps it was over-optimistic but he liked to imagine a happily married couple with a black dog and a few children besides himself, settled by a warm fire as the parents shared stories to them.

But he knew that he was likely stuck within the Circle until the end of his days, unlikely to ever set foot outside of the tower to experience the world outside of a book. The only reason the isolation never drove Khandras mad was his best friend Jowan, whose aptitude for getting into impossible situations never failed to put a smile on his friend's face.

While Khandras was never really one to take an active role in these escapades he would nearly always keep an eye out to see how things turned out. Because if there was something he valued it was loyalty and friendship. Which is the only reason he helped Jowan destroy his phylactery.

At first Khandras was very closed off from the rest of his companions, rarely speaking and sometimes hardly there. He could come off as harsh and blunt, but that was because he had learned for years that those who couldn't practice magic would always demonize him. He was still very cautious and paranoid until just after recruiting Zevran who somehow managed to be the first to get the man to crack a smile, and even laugh. It took a long time for him to fully come out of his shell and reveal his intelligence and a sense of humour which was actually quite witty. He rarely lost his temper, opting instead to remain calm and attempt to think things out logically. He could also be quite ruthless and cold at times, particularly when people showed their distaste towards magic.

For the most part he makes the logical decisions, though at times his experiences have led him to take slightly more morally grey actions. However his intentions are always noble and he tends to strive for justice the most when making his plans.

Spell-wise Khandras had always been intrigued by the sheer power behind the magic from the Primal school and, as such, dedicated his studies mostly to that school.

He never managed to rid himself of his intense hatred towards the Chantry though he grew more tolerant of Templars, thanks to Alistair and even Ser Otto - later on in Denerim. Despite all his resentment towards the Chantry he did grow close to Leliana (Hardened) after helping her with Marjolaine. With her he could vent and rant should he choose to and then be soothed by the tales she would spin. It was a comfort he'd never felt before and he wasn't inclined to let it go. Ever.

It was Khandras' determination and intense loyalty towards his companions which drove him on to defeat the Blight. If it hadn't been for them he would surely have given up the battle or simply turned to Blood Magic before rampaging off to destroy every Chantry he could before the Templars eventually caught and executed him.

Logical thought is what separates us from the Darkspawn and the beasts. This is our greatest weapon apart from our hearts of steel. Have faith in these two things and we'll succeed, you have my word.

Name: Legam Amell
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Origin: Mage, born in Denerim, but parents originally from Rivain
Orientation: Heterosexual
Specialization: None
Fraternity: None, but sympathizes most with the Libertarians
Occupation: Grey Warden, council to King Alistair
Dream: To leave Ferelden a better place than he found it. Also, to have a little more down time with his family once in a while than what he usually gets.

I've written a fair bit about him and draw him all the time, but like Taiyama, I'm doing this for kicks.

Legam was born in Denerim, the only child of two Rivaini immigrants. As a child, he was raised on the traditional Rivaini religion - the Natural Order - and lived a poor, yet comfortable life. When his magical abilities were discovered at age eight, his parents very reluctantly turned him over to the Templars. Once at the Circle, Legam was converted to the Andrastian Chant and begun his arcane lessons. Over the years he kept in contact with his parents through letters, though they stopped sending them around age sixteen. Based on the context of his mother's last letters and the rumors of small riots in Denerim, Legam suspected his parents suffered rather unpleasant fates.

In the Circle, Legam kept mostly to himself, focusing on his studies and spell casting. While he admired the healing arts, he held little talent for them and found he excelled most at Primal spells. He befriended Jowan, and when not completely absorbed in books and stories, spent much of his time with his fellow apprentice. Content at the Circle to live a quiet life of study, Legam nonetheless risked it all in an attempt to help Jowan and Lily leave it. When the plan backfired and only death or Tranquility awaited the Rivaini, Legam refused Duncan's offer of joining the Wardens, intent on instead taking responsibility for his actions. The Warden was forced to invoke the Rite to recruit him, a point that remained sore with Legam for some time.

A gentle hearted, forgiving fellow by nature, Legam hates the life of combat and violence thrust upon him. Early battles often send him into a panic, and he has to struggle to regain his composure under fire. Over time he grows accustomed to the fighting, but never feels truly at peace with the violence. If there is a peaceful resolution to a situation, he usually seeks it. However, seeing the darker side of the Blight and Ferelden makes the mage realize sometimes an unpleasant choice has to be made for a better outcome, and once in a while makes such decisions.

He has a knack for connecting with people - something he didn't discover at the Tower because of all the competition and studying - and earns the respect and friendship of all his companions. He becomes closest to Leliana, whom he also falls for fairly hard. He's perhaps loyal to a fault in such regards, as he almost turns down Morrigan's ritual because it requires him to cheat on Leliana. Eventually, he convinces Alistair to do it instead - a point the mage is not at all proud of, especially after putting the reluctant templar on the throne with Anora.

In the long run, Legam is a good person who tries to do right, but whose softheartedness can make it difficult for him to see the "greater good" type choices sometimes. He's shy and uncomfortable in crowds, witty when around friends, awkward in his movements (he's not used to lots of physical activity), fairly intelligent - but oblivious to double entendres in a sexual context - touchy at times, and prone to worrying too much.

Name: Ophelia Amell
Race: Human (Elven mother)
Gender: Female
Origin: Mage, Human
Orientation: Heterosexual
Specialization: Arcane Warrior, Spirit Healer
Enchanter Fraternity: Libertarian sympathizer. She's not a fan of the Chantry or its Templars.
Occupation: Grey Warden
Dream: To see the Archdemon defeated and help the mages in their plight.

Ophelia was born to a human man and his lovely elven mistress, Helena. Her father was a minor noble of Denerim who's wife was often involved in social affairs that kept her away from the household. It was during her leave that he would bring Helena to his bed from the servant's quarters. However, once the nobleman's wife returned from her week-long soirees they would act with indifference towards each other in her presence. In time, Helena began to fall in love with her master, although she knew that he could never forsake his wife and his wealth to be with her. It would be a scandal that would ruin him and she dare not suggest it. Still, her love for him burned ever brighter with each passing day and when she found out she was with child her heart soared.

Alas, when she revealed her condition to her lover he was less than pleased. He informed her that even though he had grown fond of her, she needed to leave his service immediately to avoid the discovery of his adultery by his wife. She was crushed. She would probably never see her love again and would have to go back to living in the Alienage. Although, the nobleman did set her up with a fund in order to provide for his unborn child and beloved.

Months later, Ophelia would be born in the Denerim Alienage and Helena's sorrow melted away as soon as her eyes fell upon the angelic face of her newborn child. Thanks to her former lover providing her with an impressive sum of money to live on, Ophelia and her mother were able to live in relatively comfortable living standards and they were never hungry. Ophelia grew to be a sweet and innocent child, if somewhat naive. However, as a human child in the Alienage she was subject to discrimination from the elves. The adults viewed her as an embarrassment to the elven bloodlines and the other children would often tease her. It was during one of these confrontations at age 7 that her magical powers revealed themselves. After being pushed by a boy calling her names, she unintentionally blasted him into a wall with a burst of magical energy, injuring him severely. The Templars arrived within an hour to take her away to the Circle. Some of the Alienage elves spat at her as she was dragged away. Her mother begged and pleaded with the Templars, clawing at them in a desperate attempt to rescue her daughter. The last Ophelia saw of her mother was her crumpled body lying on the muddy floor of the town square, blood spewing from her mouth after being struck to the ground by one of the Templars after she had attempted to wrestle Ophelia from his grasp.

Despite her disdain for the Chantry and the Templars for taking her away from her mother, Ophelia found kinship with the other apprentices in the Circle Tower. Something she had never experienced in her old home. Pulling pranks on the Templars was one of her favorite pastimes and earned her the nickname "The Templar's Terror" among her peers. She was a determined student and although at times she would struggle with her spells, she would push on until she was able to master them. It was hardly a surprise to anyone that she succeeded in her Harrowing with record time.

She's a caring person and enjoys a good time with some light-hearted fun. She's not very serious-minded most of the time and has truly found a partner-in-crime in Alistair despite him being a former Templar. However, her early childhood has taught her that trust is not something to give away easily and most people are out for themselves. Although she's sometimes blunt with harsh truths, she does mean well. This gives her and Morrigan a mutual respect towards each other. She sympathizes with the plight of the less fortunate and the persecuted, elves and mages included, and with their similar viewpoints on the beauty of the world she has found a sister in Lelianna.

She specializes in Creation magic to heal her allies, although she does dabble in the Primal and Spirit arts. And her skill with a blade is quite impressive, especially when it's wreathed in flame.

Occupation: Grey Warden

Dream: Immortality

My mage was born into a family of elves who where servants at the castle of the Arl of Denerim. While Arl Urien was honorable and treated his elven servants the same as his human ones, the same could not be said of his only son, Vaughn. One day, Vaughn and a couple of friends were harrassing Tagren’s younger sister. Tagren saw this and became so enraged that for the first time he accessed his magical talents. It was as if some great invisble hand lifted Vaugn up and threw him around the courtyard. After that, more invisible burst of energy tossed Vaugn’s friends around like ragdolls. Many were dead in an instant. Luckily a nearby guard noticed this and knocked Tagren out cold. He was locked in a dungeon and three days later the Templars came for him.

His experience with Vaugn learned him some valuable lessons. Although a mage’s power were formidable many mages lacked control. Both the incident at Redcliffe and at the Circle Tower confirmed this view, in Tagren’s opinion. Although the Maker did not exist, the Templars served a neccesarry function. Without them abominations would soon run rampant.

Name: Teran
Race: Elf
Gender: Male
Origin: Mage
Orientation: Conflicted
Specialization: Blood Mage, Conflicted? (Spirit School of Magic)
Enchanter Fraternity: Conflicted
Occupation: Reluctant Grey Warden
Dream: Peace

Teran is a mess. He doesn’t know who he is and half the time he doesn’t know what he is. Everyone thinks he’s a Grey Warden, but it often feels like a role he is playing. He has yet to face the archdemon and has only just made it to Orzammar, so some of his greatest tests of character still lay before him.

There was a rumour floating around the Mage Circle that he was a foundling. He did not come from the alienage like most of the other elven mages.  Therefore he feels rootless and adrift.

He feels that Jowan betrayed him and that he in turn betrayed his only friend.

He has an intense curiosity about anything arcane, hence his blood mage specialization, which he has yet to dabble in. He wants to do it, but he’s afraid. He doesn’t want to be a good person, because being good doesn’t necessarily get rewarded in Ferelden. So he tries to look out for himself first, but constantly finds himself standing up for others and doing the right thing, even when it would be to his advantage to do the… not so right thing.

In camp he spends his time equally with all the companions, but is drawn mostly to Leliana and Zevran. They both represent ideals he’d like to achieve, people that are comfortable with (or at least accepting of) where they came from and who have made peace with their darker selves.

Name: Osecar Surana
Race: Elf
Gender: male
Origin: Mage, Ancient Elven Ancestry
Orientation: Heterosexual
Specialization: Arcane Warrior, Shapeshifter
Enchanter Faternity: Libertarian
Occupation: Grey Warden, Odds and ends for Ferelden
Dream: Ensure Ferelden remains safe, and Mastery of the Arcane Arts

Osecar has lived in the Circle of Magi since infancy, he was found by Wynne in the Brecillian Forest, a darkspawn had killed both his parents and he was next. She managed to kill the darkspawn and save him, but only decided to take him to the tower awhen she sensed his strong magical talent.

Growing up in the tower, Osecar was intent in specialising in the Primal arts of fire, ice, electricity and nature; to ensure he was never a victim of evil again, and to protect others. But he always resented the Templars, there were times when he would unleash bolts of fire by accident when he got angry with them, but Irving would always defend him. Nevertheless, his elven background did result in occasional racial slurs from mages and arrogant templars, until he met Jowan. He was also good friends with Jowan, always playing practical jokes on the templars with him and getting away with it, (most of the time), and helping him in his studies. He would study the history of Ferelden over every moment of his spare
time, in the hope he could get out of the tower and prove himself to
the country, and as an elf and a mage, it was to be no small feat.

After the Harrowing, Osecar took a keen interest in Duncan and the prospect of becoming a Grey Warden, learning all he could of current events in the hope he could join them, ideas of glory in his mind..... Until he got caught in Jowan's plan. He did not want to have his hopes dashed by letting Jowan's plans being labled on him, but if he really was going to be made tranquil, he would try to give him a chance. But still, he went and told Irving, out of hope that the Circle's reputation would be protected. He hoped to defend Jowan against Greagoir, but when the surge of Blood magic was released, he was knocked unconsious. Jowan escaped and Lily was taken. The thoughts of Osecar's friends being taken away from him would continue to haunt him, the only hope he'd received was the chance of becoming a Grey Warden.

Name: Bridget Amell

Race:Human

Gender: Female

Origin: Mage Possible ......... ancestry (File sealed per Knight commander Gregoirs orders)

Orientation:Homosexual

Specialization:Entropy magic

Enchanter Fraternity:Aequitarian

Occupation: Grey warden, Circle Magi

Goals: Further the circles political ambitions by using her position as a grey warden to advance the circles agenda.

"Perhaps the most skilled student to enter the circle in a long time, She is a fine example of all we mages can aspire to"- First enchanter irving

"she was always serious and quiet as a child, im told the Templars found her in a denerim alley filled with burst corpses, she used to let me braid her hair...not that she will ever admit it" -Wynne

"Completley devoted to the circle, she was always at irvings side, while not a threat she does have a willingness to undertake tasks that further the circles agenda, the recent business with jowan reveals a willingness to sacrifice freinds for the good of the circle, wouldve made a good templar i think" Knight Commander Gregoir

Found in a dirty Denerim Back alley sorrounded by pulped corpses Bridget was taken to the circl immediatley, with little or no memory of any life prior to her time in the tower bridget has always lived with ease in the circle and the watching eyes of the templar were never anything to be alarmed about. it is the only life she has ever known.

Her time in the tower was highly productive and she advanced quickly through the training, her instructers note a natural talent for the entropic school and this was regarded with both amazement and unease by templar and mage alike. At some point during this period she entered the personal tutelage of the first enchanter, much to her fellow students irritation.

Growing up in the circle tower Bridget had few freinds and despite passing flirtations with a templar(who shall be disciplined on proper protocol at a later date-Gregoir) seemed to show little interest in male companionship. She did however befreind Jowan a struggling apprentice who seemed constantly worried. The two got on well and Bridget saw it as her duty to aid jowan in his studies in order to benefit the circle.

Following one of the most successful Harrowings in recent memory bridget was formally welcomed into the circle, She was also made aware of the presence of a grey warden Duncan. She was a freindly escort to the warden commander as her duties required, but she also found herself for the first time fascinated by something outside of the Tower.

It was shortly after this that the maleficar jowan revealed he was to be made a tranquil(prying eyes have a habit of disliking what they find-Templar Archivist Bennett) and was under suspicion of blood magic use. Revealing his plan to escape jowan's behaviour seemed off and Bridget went to the first enchanter with her suspicions.

Jowan later escaped and his guilt was found to be truthful, Bridget knew Jowan had betrayed everyone and placed fereldens circle in a dangerous position through his selfish actions, she swore to kill him if she ever tracked him down.

Upon the conclusion of this incident Duncan accepted Bridget into the grey wardens to prevent actions against her by the templar commader gregoir (which makes little sense considering she was doing her duty-Enchanter lorcan). Irving soon revealed that this had been his ambition since the beggining and that she was to become the circles image and voice outside the tower.

Having recently aided in the reclaiming of the circle tower Bridget is currently on her way to redcliffe, what she will discover there remains to be seen.

"The libertarians would have us sacrifice our duty for selfish gain, The lucrosians want us to become Bankers!, the apologists want us all to bow our heads and ask for forgiveness for what is clearly a gift from our maker, and Isolationists would have us become hermits removed from everything. Magic is a gift but it can become a curse if we succumb to the abomination, the system we have in place works why meddle with it?" -Bridget Amell

Name: Mysaria Amell
Race: Human
Gender: Female
Origin: Mage
Orientation: Heterosexual
Specialization: Spirit Healer
Enchanter
Faternity: Officially aligns with the Aequetarians, Has leanings towards the Loyalists
Occupation: Grey Warden, Missionary
Dream: To spread the Chant to all who cross her path.

Mysaria was taken from her family very young. Her father was a Chasind turned farmworker, her mother was a local of Lothering. Her magical talent manifested when her father was run down by a runaway oxcart. It happened in front of the Chantry in Lothering, and Mysa at age five healed her fathers wounds. Her last memory of her parents was seeing her mother's surprised face, and her father's hand outstretched towards her as the templars took her away.

If Mysa had not been a mage, she might have been a Chanter. She can quote the Chant backward and forwards. She also has an eternal optimist attitude that can either endear her to others, or flat out annoy those (like Morrigan) who see the world for what it is. She believes that Templars are necessary, especially after what happened at the circle, but longs for more freedom for her fellow mages at the same time. Through all her trials and tribulations as a Grey Warden, she has not lost her optimism. She feels she is doing the Maker's work, fighting the vile darkspawn, and helping put Ferelden back together. She has the power of persuasion, but only uses it when needed and her words are truth.

The death of anything other than Darkspawn, Demons and Abominations weighs heavy on her conscience. The political decisions she has had to made has also taken its toll, whether it be having to deal with the dwarva or the politics of Ferelden. Outwardly, she remains the positive person she has always been, inwardly and to only a few of her companions she becomes fragile. She has a great friendship with Wynne and Leliana. Morrigan and her stay at odds most of the time, and the men of the group, save for Alistair, confuse her. She became romantically involved with Alistair and they were quite a match of innocence and optimism. Though it hurt, she made him King, unable to fathom the alternative as being a good choice. Their relationship ended there.

"You tell me that all this darkness has shattered your faith in the Maker. I tell you it has only increased mine. I have seen miracles of life and death. I have gazed upon Her Sacred Ashes, and I have seen the terminally sick rise due to Her Grace. This darkness only proves to me that there is light in the world to be found. The Maker loves us, and one day his gaze will return."

First of all, let me say that I have taken a little freedom in imagining the way the story of DA takes place. All of the origin PCs have a role after their origin stories are complete in my version of the story. Some don't even become Gray Wardens. My main, Ophelia Cousland is The Warden.

Name: Dorrian Amell
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Origin: Mage of Rivaini and Chasind descent
Orientation: Heterosexual
Specialization: Blood Mage
Enchanter Fraternity: Libertarian
Occupation: Professional Maleficar (Doesn't take checks, only cash)
Dream: Money, power and women

Dorrian was very young when he was taken from the wilds by the Templars who accidentally stumbled upon him while hunting down an apostate. They saw a Chaisind woman being mauled by a pack of wolves and young Dorrian zapping them with lightning from his fingertips. Though the woman was already dead, the Templar leader took pity on the young boy and took him to the Circle Tower to be raised properly.

Dorrian was a quick but overconfident learner, eager to test the prowess of his magic. He excelled in the Primal and Entropy schools. He never was much of a healer, setting Jowan on fire once by accident while trying to heal a small cut. That was the beginning of their friendship.

The Templar commander who took him in, visited Dorrian quite often and acted as a father figure to him. Dorrian respected the man and became very sad and withdrawn when he learned that his "father" suffered from lyrium withdrawal, went insane, stopped eating and eventually died.

That sadness eventually turned into anger. Dorrian began to hate the Chantry and the Templars and mages who supported it. He became rebellious. If a Templar or a mage told him not to do something, he would do it. Dorrian also started to boss Jowan around and criticized him for his whiny attitude. Still, he remained somewhat friendly with him.

Eventually, Dorrian began to dabble in blood magic, becoming very adept in it. After his Harrowing, he agreed to help Jowan and Lily escape, not out of friendship, but because it would give him an opportunity to escape also. After being cornered by Gregoir and Irving, and seeing Jowan use blood magic, Dorrian stood baffled for several minutes before he ran for his life.

After escaping the tower, and Jowan nowhere in sight, Dorrian wandered around for a while drinking in taverns and chatting up pretty girls. Eventually, in one of those taverns he heard of the upcoming battle of Ostagar and decided to travel there to show off his abilities with magic (and earn coin and fame along the way). Once there, he was assigned to work in the Tower of Ishal. During his free time (which for him was all the time), he would flirt with any good looking female. Dorrian even succeeded in bedding several of them, much to other soldiers' dismay and annoyance. His number one rule still stood, however: "Never sleep with the same woman twice".

During the battle itself, he assisted the new Grey Warden recruit Ophelia Cousland, her dog Rabbit, and Alistair in getting to the top of the Tower of Ishal. Once they lit the beacon, more Darkspawn ambushed the group. Seeing Ophelia getting pierced by several arrows and Alistair barely fighting off what seemed like an endless wave of Darkspawn, Dorrian fled from the tower, leaving his companions behind.

His second rule: "Survival at all costs" eventually paid out for him. Somewhat.
He was found, blindly stumbling towards Flemeth's hut, with a Darkspawn arrow in his back by Morrigan. He eventually recovered, roughly at the same time as Ophelia. After receiving a big one in the jaw from her, he joined the Grey Wardens in their quest to stop the blight. As long as there'll be some profit for him in that, of course.

Dorrian can't stand Alistair because he whines a lot and gangs up upon him with Morrigan, with whom he shares quite a few ideals. He unsuccessfully tried to seduce Ophelia several times (the worst of which ended with a dagger in his shoulder), and used Leliana for his usual one night stand. This left Leliana quite heartbroken as she thought she finally found someone she truly loved. Ophelia, who took an interest in the lovely bard, was enraged by how casually Dorrian had written off the person she cared the most about in her life. She confronted him, and barely was able to hold down her sword before Alistair and Leliana calmed her down.

A sweet talking, suave and manipulative person, Dorrian is hard to trust, for all the right reasons. Were it not for the Blight, he would most likely turn on the Wardens if someone paid him enough (or was a smoking hot girl). He will do anything, and I mean ANYTHING if it the results would benefit him handsomely.

<----------------- Yeah, that goof right there, is him.
