First let me say as a huge fan of Bioware and the Mass Effect series in particular, how deeply disappointed I am in Mass Effect 2, which I bought about 3 weeks. Five hours into the game I already experienced 3 or 4 major glitches which required me to re-install the game or restart my game. The shoddiness of the design in this game has seriously altered my once high opinion of Bioware.

Rant aside, I have one particular problem that I have been unable to save.

After completing the Purgatory level where you free Jack, I went back to the Normandy. I decided to chat with Jack. Mid-convo, all the graphics started glitching out. I figured it was just another small glitch in the game and didn't think much of it. However, I soon noticed that I was entirely unable to select anything in the ship (e.g. initiate dialogue with characters, access elevator controls, control the galaxy map, tech station, etc.). Needless to say, this made the game impossible and I was stuck on the Normany. I went back to a save file from before the Purgatory mission, replayed it, and then faced the exact same problem...without having chatted with Jack this time (the action that seemed to trigger the glitch). I'm currently stuck in the briefing room in the Normandy, having just witnessed the convo w/ Jack and Miranda. I literally cannot leave the room because I can't access the door controls.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Is there something I can do besides restarting the game? I'm honestly on the verge of just throwing the game out. My expectations were so high for ME2, especially after having just played Dragon Age (which I absolutely loved). This game is shoddy beyond belief and of a markedly lower quality than what I've come to expect from Bioware. That said, I still want my 50 bucks worth and would like to finish it. Any help would be appreciated.

try to remove the saved game file to a diffrent dir, then uninstall the game.

install again + try to set the gfx to lower setting when u load the save.

this worked...briefly. a couple hours later the SAME THING HAPPENED. I am going to have to uninstall the game twice a day to beat it?



I really hope this doesn't represent a new trend for Bioware games, which I've never had problems with. Absolutely inexcusable how poorly designed this game is.

its now happened to me twice in the same day. I've reinstalled the game twice. I'm stuck in the briefing room...AGAIN.



Is there any long term fix to this?
