The lack of continuity is a frowny face. The uneven build up to pay off is also frowny. I'll pick it up next week or so, I suppose.

Well, for their sakes, I hope it isn't like how people "heard from" their ME1 love interests in ME2. It would especially suck, given that they won't even have the option to cheat on them here...

Thats really all I'm expecting, if that... probably just a letter or something. Although I'd love to be proven wrong.

Be glad you're getting anything at all. Maybe sten or morrigan was my favorite, doubt I'll hear from any of them...

Thanks for all the information.

Just want to ask do you get the choice to put your companions through the joining?

Little question, does the Stealing skill works? With 1.03 it's broken, only steals quest items+money, not random crap/pots :(

Might I be so bold to ask you how much time you needed for Origins? Because 33 hours was my split time with Origins on Hard (boss battles on Nightmare though)... 100% quests... no skipped dialogues AND read the entire codex (yes, I am fast, don't know how.... the one character is uploaded on this site under the name "Lya"...

Edit : nevermind checking it... it wasn't uploaded completely anyway, and the story progress is completely missing. So no proof, sorry...

================================

33 hours...split time...what's that mean.

I have a real hard time believing anyone can remotely go through all of DOA and go through "all" quests and "all" dialog (whatever that means) in anywhere close to under 50 hours. It took me a bit over 80 hours and I didn't do every single quest (although I tried just about every one I could find/start) and I did do just about every reasonable dialogue option I could choose.

On my 2nd run through, it STILL took me about 60 hours or so and that was trying to cut out some of the not-so-great quests and quickly going through the dialog I had already done in my first run through.

well it's also a big difference if you need to figure riddles and quests and item searches out for yourself or if you simply look it up on a wiki, then the other thing is if you spend time with lore and rune crafting...

I would like to ask about the ''Joining''.

Dragon Age Wiki says there is more people you can recruit not just your companions. What about this ? :)

I think he means recruit Grey Wardens in general- not companions.

Not to surprised. They may add various minor decisions hardlined in the code into DAO 2. (Such as the way ME's dlc bringing down sky, had it's decision added to ME 2 even tho it had no real end save.)

On other hand it may simply be a coding issue, similiar to the way they didn't think your dlc items could go to the expansion. Plus, DAO 2 may have a new graphics engine, so you never know.

All that said, after playing return to Ostagar, I think 20 hours for my completionist self is just fine.

My first playthrough of Dragon Age was 53 hours, all of the following between 40 and 46. Even at 53, I think it was the longest (or close to it) I've ever taken to beat an RPG.

I've played all of the Final Fantasies through 7. Never completed any of the later entries due to them not clicking with me. All less than 53 hours. ;)

e: ON TOPIC after two posts of fluff--good review.  I followed your other thread as well and I'm excited for the party banter and runeforging especially.  As a pretty rabid powergamer, I imagine it'll consume a few hours of my life.

7 was the only one really worth it - great story, great lore, great twists, great villain

6 and 7 are definitely the peak of the series--although it's a bit painful to play through 7 these days due to how its graphics have aged, it still stands as a strong RPG.  I find both the earlier and later FFs to be weaker, although to be fair to 8-12, I've only played a total of about 20 hours of them all combined, so it's possible they improve as they go.

My first playthrough on Origins was (without knowing magical ''Tab button'' ) nearly 30 hours. And when I learned Tab button it was like I played a different game. I think thats the beauty of Rpg's, more depth = more fun.

Thanks for the review Nemesis!

Are there any vendors in Awakening who sell tomes of arcane or physical technique?

Could you tell me what the two new tiers of materials are for items? Is it Nugbone and Deathmetal?
