Tried going for it earlier.  Felt like a 9 year old boy at a NAMBLA convention.  No thanks.  Not up for that degree of abuse.  I salute those of you who pulled of a completion of this achievement.  Sheesh.  I'll go back to Veteren now, thanks!  haha.

1. What class are you playing?

2. New Game Insanity, New Game+ Insanity, or ME1 Import Insanity?

Ecael, why do you always have the font size up in your signature?

I worked my way up to Insanity with Veteran and Hardcore runs. Now it seems really really easy. Give that a shot :)

Imported ME1 Shepard. Soldier class. Perhaps it's the Soldier class that's making it rougher for me?

And the point of this thread is? There are those of us who enjoy the challenge insanity provides and if this is an attempt to make it easier then I say NO. There are different difficulties for a reason.

Did... he even insult the difficulty or say it unfair? He just said it was hard and applauded the people who were able to do it, Kind of came off hostile for no reason.

You could have, you know, read the first post. It isn't hard.

To the OP, try Hardcore a bit first. Move up the difficulties gradually until you get the hang of things.

I went straight from casual to insanity with an NG+ character. Holy balls.

I got used to it eventually and now I very much enjoy it, except for two parts in the game:

Horizon - the fight with two scions and the fight where EDI is charging up the weapons.

Collector Ship - the bit where the ambush immediately starts and those bastards start flying at you on their hovering platforms.

Those sections made me want to throw my controller at the screen.

Play on hardcore to get used to things, then move to insanity. Once you get the hang of it, its actually rather easy.

If your not playing an Adept I mean. Cause if you are, you must be a sadist. ^_^

It's honestly NOT THAT HARD on insanity, i can't understand why most of the people whine about how hard it is.
But I got pissed once i completed the game on insanity and did not get the achievement :D

I figured I was ready for it. The kind of thing in which I'd actually have to think about who I took with me on missions, instead of who I wanted there. I was already extremely patient with killing the bad guys: Sniped when I could. Blew Shields ups when I could. Tore apart health regen when needed. The whole shebang. About my 3rd or 4th mission in, I was like "Well....this is a bit too much for me. Wowzers." Both Casual & Normal are far too bland for me. Haven't tried Hardcore yet. Veteran feels solid. Will take a crack at Hardcore and see how it fairs in comparison.

Figuring out who to take with you is the fun part! (...Sometimes...)

As a Soldier, I mainly relied on the Vindicator until I got the Revenant (AP Accuracy is almost required for this gun to actually work).

-Rapid-fire Revenant obliterates targets from approaching enemies or bosses (Harbinger, Oculus...)
-Burst-fire Revenant allows you to hit targets at medium range
-Headshot Viper or Mantis covers targets at long range

I took Barrier as a bonus power (only because I was an Immunity/Barrier soldier in ME1), but Warp Ammo or Armor-Piercing Ammo makes an Insanity run a lot faster.

Maybe to offer tips on how to drudge through Insanity?

I mean, you might as well make the thread useful while you can, Skilled. Unless, of course, it's an old thread or an argumentative 'beating a dead horse' topic.:innocent:

learn to read before you fart out a response...he didn't insult insanity or anyone that plays it..he simply said it was hard and applauded those that finished it.

always has to be a jackass though doesn't there

I have only done two missions so far on insanity, with a soldier and a vanguard and it is a heck of alot easier as a soldier, no question. I've found people like Miranda and Mordin to be incredibly resourceful, as they have powers which quickly crush and enemies shielding or armor, which can make a fight much easier. Also the hardest part for me so far was closing the 3 gates on Garrus' recruitment mission

Just have to be more careful and strategic on insanity, not really that hard. As for the horizon battle well, I'm stuck on it on my vanguard (Stuck AGAIN!). Infiltrator/Soldier beats that part easily by simply running around and sniping the scions first then finishing off the husks.

I went straight from normal to insanity. It's a fun way to play, I recommend giving it another go.

I think that the difficulty of Insanity is largely based on which class you are using and how the individual player plays the game. Playing as an infiltrator made certain parts of the game hilariously easy, even on insanity, due to the tactical cloak ability.

Same for me, only on hardcore. I got whooped over and over and over again at the largest shutter gate. Eventually, though, I got the hang of it.

I'm not sure if I even want to try Insanity after that. (Again, like the OP: Kudos to whoever did it.)

I went from normal to insanity with a new game Engineer (not ME1 inport) with dominate, and so far it's going well. It's a nice challenge, though Horizon was hell, mainly the bit in the end with the two scions. I've done a few loyalty missions, and am on my way to recruit Samara soon.

I've found that it's important to choose your squadmates well, and manage them properly. Otherwise, I find that distracting a strong enemy with my drone, whittling down and dominating/hacking another seems to work well. It really pulls the pressure of my squaddies.

I also am not too fond of Miranda... She has a nasty habit of climbing on the highest, most exposed crate :( Zaeed and Grunt seem to be doing really well, they die hard!

I think you should give it another go OP ;)

As a Sentinel the only trouble I had with insanity was the Collecter Ship ambush were there isn't much cover and more platforms filled with collecters and husks keep coming.

Horizon is easy as there is plenty of cover, I find the best cover is the platform to your left when you first enter the final stage as there is a no mans land between it and the nearest cover giving you a clear shot at anyone trying to cross and the elevation advantage ofcourse helps you hit the enemies easier.

Also why does everyone find Scions difficult? They are so slow it is very easy to dodge their attacks and fill them with lead. Don't even get behind cover against them as it just slows you down.

Vanguards at insanity if played right are actually quite powerful. I was pawning until Horizon. My tactic of sniping the scions while on the move doesnt work!!! The vanguard secret of success is that shield boost after every charge I found.

Insanity should only be played after one playthrough however - because you will need to know what kind of enemies you're going up against, where they will charge etc.

I don't know if I could ever play a Vanguard - too risky for me. However, this is awesome in its own right:

Since shield-breaking attacks don't spill over into health, it seems that a low cooldown on Biotic Charge makes you invincible to slow -- but hard-hitting -- enemies.

Insanity isn't as much about difficulty as it is about:

-- patience

-- understanding the level

-- using the above in your favor

In that light anyone that can go from Veteran to HC should be able to make the jump from HC to Insanity.

Nice Vanguard vid ... I don't know if I'll ever have the stones to try that on Insanity :) .....

Everyone does claim it to be uber fun though ... [hears the call of the Vanguard] ...
