Just an opinion. High heels for female companions is a no go, its unrealistic wearing them during combat. Sure it's sci-fi/fantasy but this really gets to me. In ME1, your team feels like soldiers. In ME2, errr... odd.

Am I the only one?

I'm afraid TV Tropes disagrees.

(Mildy NSFW for obvious reasons.)

Don't be surprised when a bunch of pubscent fanboys decide to rip you a new one for having an opinion. <_<

Well, I'm already seeing complaints that the sex scenes of ME2 have no nudity.

Guess I have a minority opinion then. Majority wants the 'sexy' in games.

Yeah, the hexagon suits, boob suspenders and high heels really add to Mass Effect.

Not.

I don't. I take Garrus and Grunt, only folks with freakin' armor!

I admit when I saw the shoes my first thought was "What is she wearing? She's going to break an ankle in those shoes. And someone with her background should know better."

As a female player, I find all this a bit insulting. I mean it's not like Bioware goes out of it's way to give the male characters sex appeal.

That's another reason for me to like Tali, A real suit and no silicone.

Look at Jacob and Thane, and think again.

That being said, high heels are a rather silly thing to wear in a combat situation, and Miranda's outfit especially is a bit over the top. Yes, Miranda's. Not Jack's or Samara's. Unlike those two she is a professional and wants to get taken seriously by human standards. Not going to happen in that outfit.

I did shake my head at it the first time, but I can live with it. I still think what they wear should be less fan service oriented, like ME1 was, but I'm not counting on it.

But then again, I love how Jack looks. Wish she'd put something decent on in combat areas though.

What, you mean Mr. Cartoon-Proportions and a fish? :P I can't say I've ever found any ME male sexy. At all.

I think it's symbolic of her arrogance. She considers herself to be perfect and wouldn't a perfect woman be fully able to fight in heels?

I really don't see the appeal of high heels at all, and I'm a man. I feel the same about the portrayal of women in loads of media. Makes me cringe. Tight bodysuits? Hell yeah, this is sci-fi and we're already making "unbreakable" t-shirts of nanotubes. Cleavage and high heels, no thanks.

there is a video on the bioware site "art of the game ?/5" and it sounded like they worked hard making sure that thane wasn't ugly. and  Wrex was male and he had A LOT of sex appeal

Well, while I can't make a personal assessment, a fair number of fangirl squeals say that your opinion isn't the only one around. And incidentally, if Jacob is Mr. Cartoon-Proportions, then Miranda definately qualifies as Ms. C-P, in that case, and Thane is a lizard, not a fish; moisture actually makes him sick. ;)

Oh, I know, I know. Good point about Thane too. I don't claim to have the one true opinion either (In fact, I'm quite sure I'm in the minority). They should ramp up the female fan service though. Have Jacob wander around topless or something, to make it up to us.

At least Miranda admits its the result of tempering, unlike someone else.

Also Thane is amphibious, its more of a croc that a lizard ...

Skimpy outfits can be pathetically explained away by great sheilds/barriers but high heels?

Unless Mirandas outfit is equipped with something that generates a mass effect field to help stabilize her and distribute the weight, which would be a ridiculous amount of effort to go to so she can wear high heels, it is complete BS.

No, he's not an amphibian. Water makes him sick! He's dying because he's breathed too much moisture! He requested the driest place in the ship as his resting place for a good reason.

Maybe you didn't get to know her very well, but she isn't arrogant.

I wouldn't even call what she's wearing high heels...they really look more like boots.

Samara has heels, but she's an asari. They're graceful!

You've never heard of the concept "high-heeled boots" before?

It's marketing, really. Character modelers routinely make these realistic models, only to have the marketing boys come in and tell them to give the males bigger biceps and the women larger cup sizes. High heels and peek-a-boo armour also fall under that motif. It sells, apparently, and they've got the spreadsheets to prove it.

"Drell are omnivorous reptile-like humanoids with an average lifespan of 85 galactic standard years. Drell appearance is very similar to asari and humans, but their muscle tissue is slightly denser, giving them a
wiry strength. Many of their more reptilian features are concealed, however one unique characteristic is the hyoid bone in their throats, which allows them to inflate their throats and produce vocal sounds outside of the human range. They also have two sets of eyelids, like crocodiles. Drell possess the ability to shed tears."

Granted they are not amphibian but he is not a "lizard" either, we can assume they can swim as that is implied.

"The leading cause of death for drell on Kahje is Kepral's Syndrome, caused by cumulative long-term exposure to a humid climate. This syndrome erodes the ability of drell lungs to take in oxygen, and eventually spreads out to other organs."

That is the good reason, of course they are stitting with the Quarians along with many species on what type of enviroments they can live in without having health issues.
