Just an opinion. High heels for female companions is a no go, its unrealistic wearing them during combat.
You cleary have never watched The Tick high heels are not only realistic but an effective weapon as well.

Sure it's sci-fi/fantasy but this really gets to me. In ME1, your team feels like soldiers. In ME2, errr... odd.
Well with only two exceptions (ok maybe three) none of your squadmates are soldiers (Jacob and Garrus are the only ones with military training). So it works out.

Not at all many people find some of the female attire to be quite silly. So far (had the game one day) this is the only part of ME2 that I wish was more like ME1 and hope the change for ME3; give these people proper combat gear. I don't mean go back to ME1's inventory system but give the squadies Casual and Armor apparel similar to Shepard (even if we can't customize it)

Actually, thinking about it, didn't European nobles, at least French ones, use high heeled boots back in the 18/19th century? I'm talking about men with the equivalent of military boots. I swear I've seen a painting of Louis XIV with high heeled boots.
I always thought they did that so they wouldn't seem so short.

allowing murderous idiots on your ship= bad move allowing murdurous smart people+can tell going with you is the right option= good move
as for the first one they never said it was the fastest and if it was the best you wouldn't need to buy ship upgrades now that you have ship upgrades it may be the best.
If you want unrealistic think about the price of the lazeros (spelt wrong) that is unrealistic

I can't begin to count how many things are wrong in this sentence.

High heels were used back then, and they were just as impractical as they are today. Like today, their purpose was to emphasize calves, it's just that men did it instead of women. And those weren't spike heels.
It's explained perfectly well in the game if you paid attention. And there's a difference between unrealistic and unimmersive. Note that no-one in Mass Effect 1 wore anything that impractical. All alien races speaking English isnt unrealistic?

So you know better how much it costs to bring a person back from the dead?

I think it's symbolic of her arrogance. She considers herself to be perfect and wouldn't a perfect woman be fully able to fight in heels?
I agree, I think it perfect for her. She knows she is good looking, she even says it herself, so why shouldn't she wear it?

Jacob says, "you were dead for 2 years and on an operating table for most of it.." getting just a few operations gives you huge medical bills getting operations for 2 years strait? man, I don't even want to hear that number...

It's 4 billion credits! 4,000,000,000! "Few operations" my ass. Shepard was dead in every sense of the word, but some intact pieces. It must have required developing entirely new technologies to make that happen. Rebuilding almost the entire skeleton, constructing most organs from scratch, reviving a brain that was frozen! I'd say it went cheap.

Are you implying that The Tick isn't correct any and everything? My good sir, you are no longer allowed to have an opinion that matters!
But in all seriousness, Samara's attire can be explained that while the average Asari knows of modesty, she, and Justicars in general, are viewed as symbollic, powerful Asari that serve only for the greater good. Whatever she chooses to wear shouldn't be questioned by anyone, simply because of her Justicar status. Also, this kinda breaks the point I had about Asari earlier, but their standards of modesty aren't quite as strict as Humans. Most Asari start their early life as Strippers and most Asari societies are okay with it.
I really can't explain for Miranda. It's impractical, but who cares enough?
As for my personal opinion, I like the different outfits. Samara's may be a bit revealing at times, and it can make anyone who hasn't reached pubery yet, possibly turn away from the action to....stare, but it really doesn't change the game because she's wearing the outfit....unless you're just immature or you put too much thought into everything. I also enjoy how everyone looks and dresses differently in Mass Effect 2. It's a freakin' galaxy, why was everyone wearing the exact same armor? I'm more than happy to see in the two years that Shephard was gone, that Galactic Society decided to add SOME style to thier bland choices. It was either "Armor", "Heavy Armor", "Lab Coat", or Set 1 and Set 2 of Civilian clothes.
Just my opinion though.

So because he respects women means he is "less" of a man? and I'm guessing that you would call yourself a man?
As for the actual topic, although something as small as footwear doesn't bother me a whole lot it would be nice if you had the option for squadmates to wear some kind of armour in combat zones(its definitely something I miss that was in the first game.)

I agree they should do away with the high heels at least in combat situations. Casual clothes is ok.
I say this sadly since I LOVE high heels but yeah. They should have spacesuits like in the first game also.

As a female player, I find all this a bit insulting. I mean it's not like Bioware goes out of it's way to give the male characters sex appeal.
All the males in the Mass Effect universe have skin tight suits as well. Heck even the old guys are in magnificent shape. What exactly should they be doing more to make them more appealing?
They do try specifically to make the male characters sexy, if they are failing you need to let them know how because despite your opinion they work hard to make the male characters appealing to women. That is simply a fact.

Finding women sexy in high heels means I do not respect women eh? Sorry no guilt for feeling how I feel.

Sometime after ME2
Random woman to Samara:I'd like to see you try to run in those.
Samara:I went to an unexplored part of the Galaxy in which no one who had gone prior survived. Infiltrated an enemy base and personally held up a biotic field to hold off millions of mechanical kill bots while under gun fire...in these heels. Before that and now I server as a Justicar
Other woman: *runs away*

They even hang a lampshade on it in Miranda's loyalty mission. If you drag Jack along, she agrees with the Mercenary. Which is pretty nonsensical when you think about it.
However, Shepard's armor looks VASTLY better than in ME1*, until you go out your way to make it pink/cream colored. This covers a multitude of sins in my book.
* My opinion. Especially light armors. The more effective pieces have a tendency to look like pajamas. Managed to find a piece of light Turian Colossus on the last play through. Also, Krogan Phoenix armor.

Without getting completely off-topic, yes, European nobles wanted to be portrayed as tall as possible so as to seem superior over their minions. Even artists elongated the proportions of the human body with respect to nobles in paintings (7.5 head lengths to the usual 6.5). Besides Louis XIV was really short and saw himself as the "Sun-King," so he needed a serious extra boost.
As for the OP, I posted vehemently about this back in the old forums, and some labeled me as an "uptight, prude woman." Where as, indeed, I am 19 year-old college male, who simply thought that skinsuits with "convenient" v-necks and chest-straps didn't line up functionally for armor, seeing as how prevalent the characters would be seeing combat. Would a chick really leave her chest partially exposed in combat? NO! You get shot in the heart/lung, it's game over, so why the hell would you give someone else the advantage to kill you, just to show some skin?!
Besides, is it necessary? No. Does it hint at a bit of disrespect towards women? Yes, it is almost insulting. It makes sense to the asari strippers in the clubs to have their chests hanging out, but not an asari justicar or human spec-ops agent who faces gunpoint all day. If BW went for the easy buck of grabbing young, red-blooded males, I would be very disappointed in this reasoning.
Before you criticize me of not being a man, take a long look at your morals.
If it means that much to you to see some chest, go to google images/videos.

I can understand how it must seem to players who really, really, really want to see HBO- and Showtime-like sex and nudity in our stories, but that's not what makes our games great, and ironically, insisting on sex and nudity tends to make people look immature. Just because you'd like to see somehing--anything--doesn't mean that we will do it or agree with your reasons to include/not include it.
