Texans are great kissers. Too bad the only people they kiss are their cousins. They do more than kiss them in fact which is why we see a generation of idiots from that state who are getting progressively dumber.
Hopefully in 50 years they will lose sentience then the civilized part of the country can close the state off and turn it into a human zoo which it already is de-facto.

But then you couldn't conquer them with the power of your blade and your iron resolve. There is no honor in hunting in a zoo.

The job of my blade is to defend myself and bring justice to the wicked, not to put down animals unless they go after me first.  I tend to stay away from them so such a scenario is unlikely.

Relax.
I visited the creationist theme park in Kentucky and the guide got
really pissed off since I couldn´t stop laughing.

????

There
are creationist *theme parks* around? The mind boggles. I'll be sure to
put that on my tourist itinerary the next time I go visit. Oh, and how
was it like BTW (in terms of facilities attractions available, beside
the inevitably propagandic qualities of each? I hope the rides were
entertaining at least to make up for the nonsense that you had to
swallow.

My wording was not that good and I thank Busomjack for the correction.

I got there and I still have to get answers to facts such as regular mutations of mitocondrial DNA; the fact that the first ****** Sapiens were found in nowdays Ethiopia (and not in the Fertile Crescent); the fact that we share 99% genes with gorilas and chimpanzees...

I have lived in Texas for the past 5 years.

Before that I lived in Kansas for 5 years.

I am not a religious person. At ALL. I am not of any definite political, economic or metaphysical ideology beyond respect others beliefs and keep yours to yourself.

I have still had some epic moments.

This is as laughable as people protesting for Pluto to get its planet status back.

Texas blows anyways. So hot you can't even roll down the window to cool off when you're on the road. Everybody's brains are probably fried from heat overexposure.

Thomas Jefferson was all just a revisionist ploy to begin with. The American Revolution was won by Ronald Reagan and Ayn Rand by throwing money at the British while flying on giant eagles.

The real bothersome thing is this: a board of Texas Conservatives are saying that the founders of our nation were against our nation. Aren't Conservatives supposed to be protectin' the founding fathers?

Yes, but to do that with in good conscience, they have remove the ones they don't like.

China doesn't exactly have a great history of skewing history itself, you know?

This all reminds me of the talk in "1984" about how history does not exist.

Yeah man, a totallitarian regime that plans to force their reporters to go through "Marxist Propaganda Training" to be allowed to become journalists, and which has an iron chokehold on the culture, thoughts, and education of it's people is MUCH better.

The USA squandered a good opportunity to rid itself of all the verminous, white trash, hick states during the civil war.

Next time these scum buckets decide to secede, we should let them.

While we're at it lets sell Alaska back to Russia and make Puerto Rico a state.

lol Russia's economy is dead, they can't afford Alaska

Better then following a invisible friend in the sky at least humans can die lol. Trust me China is very different from what you know. The only thing the government cares about is making money and a better economy without the need of gods and priest. They can hardly give a **** how the ordinary citizen live their private lives. Heres the unspoken rule of china:you can do whatever you want as long as you dont hurt anyone or bother anyone.

Unless they consider you a political dissident, then you go to jail for the next 10 years.

Is that why they banned Avatar and WoW? I don't think the Chinese like money "swimming upstream."

hmmm, well if you look at the founding father statements, they were against the establishment of a strong federal government - first go round was a confederation (not the Confederacy of the civil war), so I guess you could say that they were against the USG as it stands today (Jeffereson vs Hamilton) and Texas was an independent nation before becoming a state - one of 2 independent countries that joined the US (Hawaii was the other - and we cheated on that one...) - however - before I spout off other trivia, I am going to go investigate the text info...

We have to consider the source of the original link. Ed Brayton, the writer of that article, if you have read any of his other articles, has a clear liberal agenda. That doesn't mean some of the information he says is wrong, but it means that he is trying to convince you towards his side, even if it isn't necessarily correct.

For example, when he talks about the Texas State Board of Education omitting learning of where the constitution prevents the promoting of one religion over all others. Well, he neglects to tell you that there is a legitimate argument that simply stating religion's impact on many of the founding fathers isn't promoting their religion, but just conveying history.

He also misleads you with the article, and the poster of this topic did this as well, that they are removing Thomas Jefferson from the history books all together. They are not doing that. They are talking about removing Thomas Jefferson from the "enlightenment section" saying that his views were mostly taken from other major philosophers at the time. I personally disapprove of removing him, but my point still remains that the author of this article neglects to tell you much of this information.

History is written by the victors," Winston Churchill famously said. It’s like what Lenin said, you look for the person who will benefit and um, um… In Texas, that may mean removing mention of Ted Kennedy and Cesar Chavez from textbooks in favor of new entries on the National Rifle Association and Phyllis Schlafly. Once you accept that school are for ideological indoctrination, then it becomes a matter of who has the power to use the institutions to suit their aims. “Truth” is simply a tactical ruse to gain power for your ideology. Texas is correct assuming that a certain ideology has been taught in schools, and are simply implementing the logic of power by wanting to substitute theirs for it.

As for the news itself, all I can say is it doesn't surprise me. Revisionist history is not a new concept. Politics, especially currently, occasionally trump logic here. Plus, it's Texas. I stopped taking Texas seriously years ago. It's like officials there want to be ignorant.

Similar to the argument above on not lumping all Americans together, you shouldn't lump all Texans together. Austin is a great city in itself. And El Paso (my home) is nothing like the rest of Texas

I might not do as much lumping if more than half the things I hear about Texas weren't so depressing. I have friends and family in Texas, and with the exception of a few insignificant things here and there it honestly doesn't sound like a place I'd like to live.

And honestly, I could say the same thing about New York, even though I've lived here most of my life and like it. If I had a choice, I would live elsewhere. I heard my fair share of criticism for it when I was living in California, and the thing is... a lot of it wasn't wrong. I could say Manhattan has its bright spots. I could pick out a few small towns I've been to here and there that are nice. But I can't really defend my home state as a whole with conviction. So I don't see myself giving Texas much of a pass. :P

Nah, you don't understand. We Californians don't hate you because you are from New York. We hate you because you keep telling us you are from New York.
