I've never played ME 1 or 2 before ( looks cool though hope ME2 might come out on PS3), but I thought it was kinda cool that the PC actually talked when he selected the dialouge options.
Unlike in DA:O where you just select whatever and that is it. I understand that they would have to have all that voice acting for all the possible dialouge options etc etc, and it may be time and money consuming. Hell even if they just used one default voice per the gender of the PC ( like in ME2) that would be cool with me. I mean to be honest the only time I ever hear the voice I chose for my PC is when I select him, that's about it.
Ofcourse there are bigger issues or things that can be put into the DA series to make them more stunning and immersive as an RPG, I just thought this would be a cool xtra feature that can be put into the games.

Make use of the PC's voice?

I liked ME1 (haven't played 2 yet), but personally, I really wouldn't want the same system in DA:O. In ME1, you had one protagonist: Shepard (male or female), a marine commander, who was either a hardass or a diplomat. That's it. You didn't have to take varying races/backgrounds into account. I really wouldn't want the voice of a City Elf to sound the same as a Dwarf Noble. Also, you'd be at the mercy of the actor's line readings--again, it worked for ME1, but I don't think it'd work as well for DA:O because there are so many ways you could play your character and they differ from person to person.
Also, you didn't choose exactly what you said in ME1, you chose a brief phrase that gave the gist of what the actor then actually said. You also generally only had 3 options for replies (you got more for questions/inquiries). I'd really find this limiting.

Yeah I see what your seeing. It seems DAO is more indepth with the PC than in ME.
Ah well thats one less idea off the chopping block!

And this is a huge barrier to roleplaying.JosieJ wrote...

Regardless of whether the PC is voiced, the game absolutely must allow you to see the full dialogue before you select it.
