Any news on new DLC?

Stone Prisoner is good, because you have a fully integrated character in your party. That's the big bonus of it. I agree the town is a little small, but hey, it's the dude you are after anyway. Anytime you use him, you are getting your money's worth.
Warden's Keep I really enjoyed going through. Working through the content is a great ride. The biggest disappointment I had with that was that it never became the "base" I thought it would. You can go back to it, there is storage, and a shop, but it's so far out of the way. I thought it would replace the camp. To me that would have been a worthy use. I don't regret getting it, but it didn't quite reach my expectations.
The rest of the stuff is nice fluff. The Dragon Armor is ok, but I really just wanted that for the sci-fi version for ME2. Now that armor looks sweet. After completing the campaign as a warrior, I'm really sick of looking at myself in red and white, so I've sold off the chest piece soon as I hit camp. Hey, it's free gold.

Still, mindblowing how you're told more will happen at a later time yet nothing ever does pending on the choices you make there. Not sure wtf they were thinking with that whole scenario although most tend to be bothered by the fact you can't reenter the keep afterwards. Which is a bit odd as well but to me the fact you're told there's more to the story yet it never unfolds which is what really dissappointed me.

I would actually prefer not to see extraneous side-areas with no connection to the rest of the game. Especially given the plot of this game. Durlag's Tower always felt like a pointless side-trip, but at least the storyline of Baldur's Gate didn't have you rushing to do anything important at that point in the plot. The plot in Dragon's Age needs to take into account the fact that you're trying to save Ferelden from the darkspawn, and you need to do it soon - not randomly go off to explore every dungeon and deal with every random townie's problem.actarus106 wrote...
That said, I would love to see future DLC be more along the lines of Durlag's Tower from TOSC -- a cool new place that, while not essential to the plot, has its own secrets to uncover and quests to undertake. Give us a ruined castle or a tomb or some long-forgotten catacombs, rich with treasures, menacing creatures, and perhaps a compelling NPC or two, and I'll be a very happy camper.
Soldier's Peak feels reasonably involved with the plot - at least it would if you could actually use it as a base to gather an army at. The Stone Prisoner seems reasonable because a golem would be (and is) a powerful help against the darkspawn, so it's worth your time to go try to retrieve it. As long as DLC makes sense and isn't just 'oh and you heard about a dungeon over there that has cool treasure' it works ok, but given the plot there should never be a point where you feel it's ok to go treasure-hunting in a random dungeon for unspecified rewards that may not even be of that much use against the darkspawn.
My ideal DLC is not self-contained, but intertwined with the rest of the world. It's probably more work that way, but it's more interesting, involving, and I'm more likely to pay extra for it than if it's just a totally self-contained area.

Or possibly do the same thing with Highever. It's mentioned repeatedly, so why don't we ever get to go back there? The ruling family is dead thanks to Howe, so it needs a replacement lord.

Skip one fast food meal and it's paid for. It's more nutritious too.

stone prisoner was interesting, and I like shale, but I finished that whole thing in an hour or so. haven't done his personal quest yet, so maybe that will tack on some worthwhile content, but I can't imagine paying 15 bucks for it.

What is it with people and comparing DLC to food. Must be a new trend.

But I would really like bundle packs of DLC and Expansion packs for retail stores and online stores alike. I just DONT buy stuff with credit cards anymore.

That and the fact that I was romancing her from the day that I got her(was making out as soon as I got in lothering woot?) makes me wonder why and wants me to keep playing to... chase.
Honestly, I am finding it extremely hard to start and play out my second char because I want to continue the story of my first, I just hope that come out with a mini-expansion-thing soon...

Now Warden's Keep was a let down. Qualty wise it was good and it matched the rest of the game. But for $7 it was hardly worth it. Considering on average you spend about 50 hours on the full game, but for this DLC you only get maybe 1 more hour of playtime. Plus the selling points of "a Keep you can call home" is a lie all you can do after you finish is hang outside? What was the thought process on that idea? The extra storage chest was made moot now that there is a mod that can do the same, but it is more convenient because it is at your camp. All the extra gear can in time be copied by mods too. There was no real perk in having this mod other than experiencing one extra hour of gameplay that is it, and no 2 extra vendors that really don't add much uniqueness to their stock they carry doesn't add value either. In my opinion it should only be worth $3-4 not $7. If you were able to use the Keep afterward, and it was an interact type house. Then yes $7 might be a good price, but as it stands now. It was a very poor DLC not quite the level of Horse Armor poor, but close.

So, DLC is good. We want more. But we want more value for money AND we would like a freeby once in a while. As thanks for the loyal community and to do some customer bonding.

Yeah, people! Stop demanding the things you buy have value equal to their price! What do you think this is, capitalism!?Brigonos wrote...

In today's gaming economy making a top notch game is a major risk that requires a very good business plan. The cost to have great writers, modelers, programmers, etc. is immense (I produce a formerly collectible fantasy card game called Warlord: Saga of the Storm, so i can sort of relate). DAO comes out at a very decent price.
The DLC is a tool to have the fans go for the full experience and thus maximize the returns from the game initially, as well as making sure you have a chance to get some money from 2nd and 3rd generation users (players who buy used or get handed the console version handed down from the initial buyer). This all helps us gamers getting better games in the future!
From the player's perspective none of the DLCs are necessary to complete the game. If you don't like what you see, don't buy it (there should be an ample number of previews/opinions out there to help you decide). I for once will buy the Warden's Keep from the start and I look forward to additional content (PS3, remember, no toolset modules for me, unfortunately) and I hope it to be new playable origins, new adventures, new sidequest, maybe even a major parallel storyline. Until DAO2 comes out in 2011 ;-).
So my message is: Don't complain about having a choice to decide where to put your money. Enjoy the opportunities you are given.

Why cant i browse book-cases etc. for stuff? More options would be nice, because i love the details in every room of DA:O. Just look at the tables full of books and papers in the Mage-tower! How detailed!
A shame you cant interact in any way.

- I want it cheep, but quality is a lot more important than price. Most games I won't play at all, so the few games I really enjoy (like Dragon Age) are worth a lot to me. Price will only be a deciding factor if I am uncertain about the quality, or if it is absurdly expensive.
- I want story content: Interesting happenings, conversations, quests. New locations would be great, but reusing some old ones is also ok. If there's other stuff along with the story (equipment, skills, talents) that's cool, but that's not what's going to attract me. I'm not going to buy any dlc that does not include story content.
- I want to be able to use my guy. Dlc that depends on me using a new character is not going to be that attractive.
- If the dlc arrives while I'm still playing the game (i.e. for the next month or so) it can be short or long, midgame or after the endgame, anything goes.
- If the dlc arrives after I have finished the game, it will probably have to take place after the main game's ending for me to be interested - I don't want to go back to an earlier save and pretend I haven't done the endgame yet. There will also have to be a big chunk of gameplay in there - I'm not going to pick the game up again just for a couple of hours' worth of gaming. My best hope would be a huge expansion continuing my guy's story. I would be willing to pay a lot for that. (I don't know how the main game ends, though, this might not be realistic.)
