I guess I have to show him the wrong deeds his family had done just for the Power.

Maybe he is innocent but he needs to be enlightened.

And the girl from the video was from Howe's family too ? Nathaniel's sister or something ? Because if she is then I can think ''alternative'' ways to get my revenge or punish him :)

Unfortunately, we can't go to Denerim to use Arl Howe's torture chambers; perhaps there's a spare in Amaranthine (there must be - Howe was too messed up to not have one)

If you want to be a real jackass, you would do more than just slaughter.

Actually, I hope the opton is present in the game. I wouldn''t do it, as I think it's atrocious and monstrous, but I appreciate having the option.

I hope it is not. What self-respecting noble would take vengeance in such a crass and undignified way? My Cousland plans on using the family sword again.

There is nothing like turning an enemy into an ally and friend. It's a sign of true power. Howe is definately on my Cousland's team.

Oh man, he's just asking to be killed.
You won't be that lucky my friend! You will help your hated enemy to reach to the top. Better punishment.

Well, selling him to Tevinter is always a good worse-than-death option.  Unfortunately, they're also on the Death List, so it looks like we have one more dead shem pig noble to add to the pile.

Looking good. He's yet another character I'm looking forwarding to meeting, who seems to have plenty of interesting storytelling synergies with my vengeful City Elf main, redeemer Mage, and pragmatist Cousland.

My Cousland wouldn't do it either. But more options = a better game.
If someone wants to rp a cousland that is obsessed with revenge, then he / she should have the option to do something terrible to the girl.
Things like that happened and still happen in our world. Unfortuantely.

Of course I am not that low. Even though his father slaughtered my family , took my land, send assassins after me , tried to gain power when a Blight lurking around and not even regret when we met again, I will be better then him. Besides I think that poor girl believes us and knows his father's evil deeds.

Making him suffer a punishment worse than death isn't my intention.
I meant that turning him into a real friend and ally, not a tool, is a sign of real power.

I don't see why chopping him to pieces wouldn't be an option.

It is an option for Zevran already (and I've done it sometimes when rping required it), so if the option is not there for Howe jr, a MODDER will certainly make it, and I'll be downloading.

He is already dead, I will not even considering him on my party, for several reasons. Gameplay aside, this is personal, and you may even call this a Howeicide, the total death of the entire Howe Family.

Ditto, I got Loghain on mine (and I paired up with Anora) so  having Nathaniel Howe along will certaintly add to my characters redemptionist outlook.

Who cares if he tried kill me? Zevran tried to kill me and failed, Sten murdered an entire family, Morrigan spent her childhood ripping through Templars, Leliana has assasinated her share of folks (men for the most part I assume) and Oghren axed a youngster in the proving. As far as I'm concerned - welcome aboard.

I know. It's just that my city elf sees things a little differently. :D (Actually, despite my comment, she's not the cruel or malicious type, either. But she is vengeful beyond the point of reason, and when the noble human son of the man who abused my people comes to kill me, he's getting a quick death,  intentions or knowledge be damned.)

Really I'm just glad that they've (hopefully) given us the option to play with an NPC differently depending on a character's world view. Five of the six new companions seem compellingly interactive to me, and that bodes well.

You, sir, are a tr00 pirate. I like your style! :-)

Anyways, I can gather that for a Cousland it would be completely different than from any other origin. After all, what you say is true, everybody killed others (who had families)... it's just a different thing when your family was the one getting butchered.

And my Cousland can't take the high road.

"DIEEEEE, filthy dog!" :-D

Well, it's different for Zev. He's an elf, so obviously anything he did wrong was the fault of the evil humans who forced him to be that way;)

Oh come on, everyone knows that Howes family wasnt involved in his actions its even mentioned in the first game. When you save the Dragons Peak Arl's son in Howes dungean you have to go to his father in the Gnawed Noble Tavern to get your reward. He will then go on to vehemently say "I would lead troops against Thomas (Rendon Howes son) but my son has told me he had no part in his fathers crime."

You hear that? A guy who was tortured beyond healing (or so it is metioned) had enough restraint to say as much to his father. Now doesnt that say something to you? That maybe you should forgive Rendons family of the mans crimes?

I remember reading a preview somewhere that said one of our companions betrays us somewhere along the way in Awakening. I may be mixing this up with some other game, but if true it may not be such a good idea to show Nathaniel mercy.

Side note: Still no new leather armour models it seems. The trailer just shows him in the usual chainmail.
