My HN told Howe that she was going to kill his whole family. I guess we'll see.

Last time I knew someone was thrown in a volcano, he came back to life with a devil gene, now his son is crazy....

Dear god. That whole family is certifable though. You realize they get worse in each game?

So I hope keeping him alive and befriending him isn't the only way to unlock Shadow spec? If so, that really sucks, essentially taking away the choice of killing him from any Rogue player who wants to try the new spec.

Sure, Daddy Howe was an a-hole (although I didn't exactly want to kill him, but he forced my hand), but the father is not the son, so I'm definitely recruiting Nate. Besides, his grandfather was a Grey Warden, so that's got to count for something. My Blood Mage is all about the greater good.

That bastard's dad killed my family! No way he's joining the wardens while I'm commander.

Well. He doesn't want to live much does he? And Leiliana's not around to convince me to be merciful....

Last time i checked, Nathaniel did not kill the Couslands. He was not even aware of it. All he knows is that you killed his father and took over his city. You would try to kill the warden too in his positon so don't kill him and give him a chance. THEN if he tries to kill you, you can cut his big nose open =)

thats what the game is about though, consequences. do you REALLY want that spec? or do you hate howe more?

you can always just learn it and then reload a save from before hes recruited anyway, if you're lame like that.

I hope I get a convo option to say this to Nathaniel." Don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry."Image IPB

The convo I want is this:

PC: "Your sister never told you what happened to your father"

Nathaniel: "She told me enough! She told me you killed him"

PC: "No, I...am your father"

Nathaniel: NOOOOOO

That's bull. In the end, this is a game, and I'm paying money to experience new content, of which new specs are a big part. It's silly to force people to recruit a certain NPC, especially one so controversial, to be able to access the spec. And yes, I'm very lame like that, I couldn't care less. If this is the only way to unlock the spec, that's exactly what I'll do, I just hope it doesn't take forever to get to a certain approval level or whatever to unlock Shadow and I won't have to waste an hour of play time before I reload.

Oh man. This is going to be *the* moral choice for my Cousland. She's always prided herself on taking the higher road morally, but when faced with the son of her mortal enemy...it will be like Loghain or Alistair all over again, but this time it's not her love interest or a "bad guy" she barely knew, it's the son of the guy who killed everything she loved. A guy she no doubt knew from her childhood. This is going to be difficult, because it's not like she has the choice to "save everyone or kill everyone!" This choice is very...personal, for all parties involved.

Good job, Bioware. Good job.

My thoughts exactly.

No doubt all the origins would have something against a guy sharing that last name of a past enemy, but it's 100x's more personal for a Cousland. Before the trailer, I was actually thinking it would be interesting for my Cousland to give him a chance and actually befriend him. But, the trailer had to show the utterly depressing (and still a tear jerker in my book) scene of dying papa Cousland and that reignited the flame of hate. Oh, Bioware, only you can do this to me. *sigh*

I'm interesting in the background story between the two. In all likely case, they probably encountered one another before Arl Howe turned on the Couslands. The plotbunnies are already jumpping around madly in my head. Oh, is that deliah, we see? It would be interesting if Female Cousland get a shot of Thomas saying those lines.

Well...looks like Nate doesn't have a clue what his murdering father did. Shows how selfish Rendon was, he did all that..and his family bears the brunt.

If its possible to turn Nate around...well I'll work on that, but if he seems irredeemable like his dad.....off with his head!

Yeah, my female Cousland will be killing this guy. If I ever want the rogue spec you get from him, I'll just use a cheat or a mod to unlock it. xD No skin off my back to do it that way.

It matters not to my Cousland. He IS a Howe. Just being affiliated with the Howes in any positive way willl turn her rage mode on.
But, she won't kill Nate. Oh no! Mind****ing is much more satisfying. Image IPB

I'll bring him along on my paladin character, not as an act of kindness but wondering how blind he is and how he'll react to a Cousland.
