I'm a Cousland and a Rogue. He's a Howe and completely unecessary to me. He'll be lucky if I just leave him locked up in the cell. Making him part of my team will never be an option if I have any say in the matter.

right? he was sympathetic to my HN's family, not like the comic... and as you get to know him he's a really good guy... he's the only character whose approval I've maxed so far

damn you bioware, i wanted to hang him, why is he cool?

My thought exactly. I wanted to be as mean to him as possible, but he accepted that R. Howe was evil and brought everything on himself, so soon that I just couldn't force myself to kick Nate anymore.

Same here. He actually made me feel bad for him and I end up going back and forth. Haven't decided one way or another so I haven't been able to open any chests yet.

Nathaniel is my favorite companion so far, I didn't know what to do with him first but he didn't know about his fathers corrupt treachery, why would he be to blame of something he didn't know his father was a part of? Once I gained alot of approval with him he was really a great companion, and his archer skills are very great indeed.

Damn this guy is an insane sniper! Doing 100+ damage per hit on higher levels!! I find this really odd given he's an assassin and shown exclusively using blades in both the comic and his trailer...

Also for someone that hates my Cousland so much it is surprisignly easy to raise his apporval, kinda like Loghain was in Origins. Anyway interesting character, the trailer made him out to be this angry, brooding guy thirsting for revenge but so far he's been completely opposite, it seems like he is just frustrated because he is kinda lost and searching for his place in the world now.

I really like him actullay. Way more than Veelna, urgh, who gets on my nerves. He isn't bad on the eyes either. I find him kinda likeable, never mind who his father is.

He's a rather sympathetic character.

I felt I had to give him a chance, regardless of what his father did to my Cousland's family. I'm playing the uber good guy role anyway, so it's fitting I show him mercy and bring him along. I think it's pretty cool how there's a Howe and a Cousland fighting together now. Image IPB

While I lost a companion, my Cousland enjoyed ending Nathans life.

The Howe's were treacherous dogs on more than one occasion, not to mention they still had loyalist in the Arl.

Putting him to death was the only logical choice, as I had to consolidate and strengthen my hold and rule on the territory. I can't afford to have potential claimants running around, throwing the region into chaos. I've enough to worry about dealing with these new talking darkspawn.

While Nat may have been innocent, his intent when he returned to the Vigil was one of murder, so again, I've no reason to show him mercy.

I'm done forgiving people who try to kill me.

Long live the Couslands!!!

Now - my elf or my dwarf will likely let him live so I can explore his story, but none of my Cousland's will ever show him mercy.

I'm a Cousland as well and was going to kill Nat at first. But I wound up sparing him, forcing him to join me, and now we're BFF's.

And I'll go ahead and say it: If I hadn't married Alistair, I would definitely romance him (if it were an option).

He's seems the gentleman, he can clearly handle himself well, and he has a charmingly subtle sense of humor (judging from his interaction with the other companions). There's a lot to like in a package like that.

I know, I know... I'm a traitor.

I was expecting some Orlesian hating ***hole, kind of looking forward to it. But when I forgot taht my character was Orlesian and he's a Howe I really liked him. Even if he was rocking the Shannon Noll soul patch.

My main is cousland, before I picked awakening up I was debating between gutting Him like a mouldy fish or kicking headfirst into the deep roadss with a stick. But after playing through his personal quests he seems like a cool character, maybe could have done with some development though.

I used the right of conscription (I am a Cousland) and made him to a grey warden. As a ranger he is really awesome. And after learning more about Arl Rendon Howes past I realized that Nathaniel had NOTHING to do with his fathers treachery.

Nathaniel Howe is now my friend a good grey warden. I would like to have him in the next Dragon Age game. Same goes for anders, Velana and the good old thunder humper Oghren.

If there's anything of worth that RPGs have taught me, it's to never accept anything at face value. Of course you should spare him and have him join you, especially in a game like this. **** develops, new sides to be found, etc etc. Unless you want to kill him purely out of being in-character, you're just missing out on content.

I also didn't like Sten at first, either. But I stuck with him anyway and uncovered cool **** with him and Dog, among other things like his personal quest.
