Hi, Dragon Age crashes all the time. I can only play for about 15-20 minutes at a time befor the games just goes black and then shrortly returns to my desktop.
Can't figure it out. I already tried setting it to DX9 but it still didn't work.
Also, sometimes after it crashes I have to restart my computer because all of my graphics get messed up and I can't play any game or even launch firefox, even though my card temp is only at about 30 degrees C.
Any Ideas?

Yeah yeah we know, common problem. My comp has almost the same specs as yours, and even with a rating of 5/7,9, which is recommender to play DAO, it runs utterly bad. The game seems to have a tendency to crash more often than usual in the first place I think (even though I don't recall having lag problems with version 1.01), resulting in many members complaaining about it. Still no fix. May I ask what is your computer rating?

5.9 Just due to my HDD.
6.8 without it.
If it's so common then they should get to work on that. Hopefuly they're workin on it now.

Your computer rating is almost excellent. I don't see this ending happily lol.
Slim chance, though I hope they're working on important stuff like these too.

What version/patch are you using? There are a lot of threads where people are posting where people have patched to 1.03 and encountering frequent crashes as a result. I had that problem myself and re-installed and patched to 1.02 and the crashes went away. Of course, the downside is that you apparently can't play Awakening without 1.03 - but at least if you rollback to 1.02 you might have more fun playing a stable game!
And yes, I'm sure they're working on a fix for many reasons, but especially since they can't sell their expansion pack to people with this problem!

I'm using 1.03 now but I was having the problem before I patched too. I can try going back to 1.02 though.

Not to happy my self they creat a good game here but if it crashs its worthless and I am getting to that point with this game of just trashing it. Now I love Mass Effect and I was looking forward to their new MMORPG SWTOR but I have Mass Effect for the Xbox and Dragon age for the PC I guess they just cant make PC games every well so I might just avoid their MMORPG for that fact alone.

Yeah, I agree. It's frustrating to be playing and then all of a sudden I lose all my progress and have to start over.
Not to mention that I also have to restart my computer, which is very annoying. If it can't be fixed I might have to give up on it, which I don't want to do because it's fun when I CAN play.

Yes, I think I feel you; for some strange reason I don't wanna abandon Dragon Age, like you people, and if you ask me, I would do everything for it to run properly, even if that came with a great cost.
@Kojiko
Make sure you make a lot of quick/manual saves. That's what I do when I feel insecure about my progress being lost. Also, if you can go back to 1.02, I would strongly recommend it. It's the best patch released ever.

i have a phenom x3 8450 cpu with asus m3a78-cm mainboard, after the latest bios update there is no destktop crashes anymore (before the bios update, with 1.04 patch the game was near unplayable due to random desktop crashes) but i get zero crashes (i repeat zero) after the latest bios update (even with some performance gain for the dragon age origins).
