I have noticed some question about why you can't build a custom class in either of the ME games, and most of it would boil down to gameplay balance issues. However there is one possibilty that would be nice to have in this realm that fits for the various classes.
ME 2 introduced ammo powers to the various classes, cryo ammo, disruptor ammo etc. Now the three combat heavy classes have these with the Soldier class outfitted specifically with the ammo types. But the Infiltrator has Disruptor and Cryo while the Vanguard has Cryo and Incendiary ammo. While it wouldn't be a huge change, why not have the option to mix and match two of the ammo types for these classes when you build a character?
Sure some aspects might fit more with either class, for instance Disruptor ammo makes sense for Infiltrator while Incendiary makes sense for a close quarters combatant, but there does seem to be room for customization of at least a couple of classes and that would make things interesting.

Why would infiltrator need incendiary ammo? They already have sniper rifles and incinerate for anti-armor. Like-wise, the panic effect isn't as useful for infiltrators since incinerate has the same effect and more reliable (incen ammo isn't 100% panic).

I'm pretty certain modders have been able to create (semi) custom classes. The limitation being the class specific active and passive abilities can't be chopped and changed, so you keep the class abilities of whatever class you took for your base. So anything built from a vanguard would have charge and assault mastery, and then whatever "normal" abilties the modder wanted to grant him, up to five abilities. Bonus abilities, i think, are included in the "normal" list. Also, changing which weapons are available to your class is possible, but you can't exceed the maximum number of weapon proficiencies that class had, eg so engi/adept/sent would be 3 (smg, heavy pistol and pickup) and could be changed to shotgun, AR and sniper., The "modding is possible" guide in the non spoiler section should be where the info is at.

You can have Incendiary ammo on your Shepard if you have Grunt or Jacob set up with the squad version. I see what you're saying, but I can't see how it woudl be that functionally different to AP ammo which is a bonus talent anyway.
My Infiltrator has Heavy Disruptor and Tungsten ammo. between the 2 he can tear through almost anything.

Did you find the info ramsen? I have personally changed which weapons are available (gave infiltrator shotgun from the start), so i know that is possible, and it involved editing a line in the coalesced.ini file. The ability mod i haven't done, and can't remember if it was in that thread i read it. Possibly on gamefaqs maybe? Or in a seperate thread on that forum? i can't remember exactly, sorry. One of the contributors to the VG thread has changed abilities, rumination888 i *think* was who it was, again I could be wrong. I just seem to be tantalising you with possibilities but no methods, i'll stop now.
