 I have cleared all of the monsters on the first city screen in Dererium during the siege of Denerium but it will not let me progress to the next portion of the city. Any ideas or help you can offer?

Where are you trying to exit Denerim from?

Do you mean the gates of Denerim? That exit is clearly marked by two rows of cheering men. If you can not exit that map then you may have a glitch.

Or are you in the ruined market district? The exit there looks like a flight of stairs through a portcullis, IIRC.

After defeating all the Darkspawn in the gate area, you have to talk to Riordan (if I remember correctly) to trigger the next part. If he doesn't start the conversation by himself, just go talk to him, he should be standing somewhere in the center of the area.

I have talked to Riordan and he says "Move Foreword" at which time I try and exit the map by the location marked, ie the gate into the next section.



I will try again though.

If he is saying "Move forward", then you haven't cleared the map. Look for more darkspawn.

I think to the right of the area (seen from the gates) there is a bridge where additional darkspawn are, well, spawned, but only if you or one of your companions enters the bridge.
