Of course I'm talking about the Ultimate Sacrifice ending, in which the player character decides to sacrifice himself to kill the Archdemon. Is there anyone who already has Awakening and can tell us if exactly the apparently huge plot inconsistency of the pc being alive is explained? If so, how?

Also, how exactly does the game begin?

Don't try to be a wiseass and simply quote the FAQ, I want to be told by either a developer or someone who has the game already.

Ultimate Sacrifice is THE END. period. The Warden won't be caring very much about what happens in Amaranthine. And likely will be quite busy..... elsewhere.....

If you choose not to import your character or are dead, you can be a Warden from Orlais. But then you have to deal with the accent the whole game...

From what I undestand, you CAN import your dead character into Awakenings, so I'm not sure how they explain that. On the other hand, if you play as the Orlesian Warden, you CANNOT import the changes to the world caused by your ultimate sacrifice character.

You can import your character. It's handwaived that you didn't do the ultimate sacrifice, therefore, you aren't dead. You don't have to do that though.

So you only have Ferelden the way you played it in DA if you import your character? I'd imagine they still ask you important things like who the ruler is, even if it's just in dialogue, but that still sucks. This should be a difficult choice, then, because while I loved the import feature from ME2, none of my characters really wanted to rebuild the Wardens so how they end up doing that would be anyone's guess.

Sigh, I really hope this aspect was changed after they put that FAQ up. Currently I am leaning towards not buying the game, which would be a shame.

No, there's a default world that you don't get to shape in any way.

I'll have to play through as an Orlesian Warden just to see how different the game really is. I imagine that the reason they couldn't do a world state import for the Orlesian Warden is because it would get way too complicated to account for the variables for the OW and whatever you did in Origins.

Also, I imagine if you import an US character, it'll be assumed that you did the DR. That's the only thing that makes sense (unless they kill Loghain or Alistair in your place) and it's something that a player could do themselves if they wanted to replay from Redcliffe on again.

Now that quite alot of you have the game, I find myself inclined to bump this thread.

Anyone? All I want to know is if it's A or B:
A. They give you a decent explanation or at the very least are just a little vague about it.
B. Everything from your choice in Redcliffe is just simply retconned.

They did give an explanation. If you do the ultimate sacrifice and load your character over the game assumes that you chose a path that made you survive. If you want to have consistency they encourage you to make a new Warden. It's really quite simple. *Cue dramatic music*

I meant an in-game explanation as to why my character is alive again. I have considered just making a new Warden, but that would cause some other inconsistencies because the choices don't transfer, that and I dislike how they simply make a 'new' Warden the Commander.

I guess this really is all there is to it. Guess I won't buy Awakening then.

Don't. I'm already regretting my purchase. It looks like the put Bioware's "D" team on Awakenings, and rushed it to release far before it was ready. Just look at all the threads of people's imports not working correctly. Not just the DLC, but people are losing attribute bonuses, and regular non-DLC gear. Even if they do manage to correct this, it looks like the story in general doesn't connect a lot with the decisions you made throughout DA:O. I am really disappointed. I had high hopes after ME2 managed to account for almost every decision you made. I'm going to try to return today, but once you break the seal they usually don't take it back. I'll probably just stick with replays of DA:O.

You really can't hold Awakening to ME 2's standards. After all Awakening is an Expansion while ME 2 was the full blown sequel to ME 1 so it made sense that alot of your choices carried over into ME 2. Awakening doesn't seem to be that long of time after Origins either though I do share peoples opinions that it was stupid not to mention potential love interests from DA:O in Awakening though. Who knows maybe just maybe if the next DA is DA 2 then perhaps your choices from DA: O and Awakening will carry over into it.
