Okay, so on this last play through I am a female elf who eventually hooked up with Alistair out of my weakness of not being able to resist his cute courtship and proposition of me  and him in my tent near the end of the game. Even after turning him down the first couple of times and romping around with Zevran for awhile. (Romantic sucker that I am). I decided not to make him king but keeping both of us Grey Wardens and of course not having him do the dark promise with Morrigan.

So I decided to do the self sacrifice option in this game with me doing the final blow, and go out with a bang. However I most rudely discovered that Alistair said he was going to do it  as he was not going to let me die (I actually called him a bastard and an SOB in the process several times overPosted Image). I think I have tried just about every dialog option to stop him but nothing seems to work.  Has anyone been in this situation before and know a way to stop him? Do I need to break up with him before we hit the rooftop? That is where my game is saved to start if I wish to play again and I have the feeling that unless we are not romantically involved this how this scenario will always turn out.

Even though I did not make him king, the dialogue options and him keep talking referring to his kingship.  Or I just might throw in the towel keep the play through this way and try again.

P.S. I just found out something interesting on another post I did not realize that I could Alistair at the gate? Hmmmm.....he can't deny me my death then relationship or not. Posted Image

Oh, and I play on the Xbox 360 system by the way in case that makes a difference. Any comments or thoughts welcome

You can't stop him - you have to leave him at the gates in order to keep him from killing himself.

And yeah, the dialog options for all the systems are a little broken when it comes to Alistair being king. The lucky people on the PCs have mods to fix it, but we just have to pretend he's not delusional.

Do realize that this sacrifice will most likely just be retconned in Awakening.

Oh yes, I know thanks for responding. :o)  I  fortunately have also 3 other completed game scenerios ready for awakenings where both him and I are alive. This was my fun game to do completely different things I have not done before. :o)  Keep things fun and interesting.

D*mn, D*mn, D*mn! Posted ImageSo wish I had known that I could leave him behind.  Kinda sucks that we don't get that option of overturning his decision. Oh well! :o)  There is always the next game I have line up to play. I am good at pretending so I certainly take your advice and ignore that dialog. Thanks hon!Posted Image
