I'm sure someone cared about Calian. It seems like we saw just as much of Cailan as we did Duncan and that wasn't much.

I think the Empress of Orlais did.... Image IPB

Many, many times. And in the sequel, there comes a kid in a ludicrous wig and funny accent claiming to be the king of Ferelden.

Well..I kept thinking Bioware had this neato plot twist for him...coming back as our enemy and we would have to fight him....ah well.

Still could happen - Gaider didn't say he wasn't undead now....

He's been mostly dead all day!Image IPB

He said DUNCAN was dead. He didn't say anything about how his beard became a darkspawn... and probably won't until Dragon Age: The Beardening is almost ready for release.

To leave it like this is just shameful. To not let us or even alistair honor his death by burying his body is shameful.

He is in the bellies of many a darkspawn. Happy now?

There is a lore reason why Duncan should have a body, it makes no sense for such an important character's body to be missing from ostigar when the king was hardly a character we cared about got honored while duncan did not.

theres also a lore reason that the nemsis in awakening doesnt like to kill grey wardens but likes to turn them into darkspawn.

Shh, it's the main enemy for the sequel.

They try to make you submit their taint too.

Okay..so we need to hunt down the darkspawn that ate him...I wonder if his nice shiney armor gave them indigestion?

Of course not. They use TUMS. They get down even the toughest meat and I'm sure Duncan was quite stringy.

Maybe it's just me, but I see no post where it was confirmed that Duncan was dead. Can anybody post a direct link to a Bioware employee stating "Duncan is dead." or is this another troll thread?

Its so weird.......we only met them for a small amount of time.........but even now there is a huge hole in my heart for Duncan.......and a small one for Cailan.

Its good to have confirmation though now, so that im not horribly afraid to see a darkspawn Duncan in a future expansion lol

I was in that thread earlier, David Gaider said "Duncan is dead" and that was pretty much it and went on with the topic at hand - I think it was that really long one about getting Awakenings today, hit the Bioware button.

WHOA: Look down the link (on page 1) to page 32 (I think) a bit...  HERE!  He responds/quotes some things inbetween.  This did not start out trollish. But, well...

So... Duncan's the original Barber of Seville?

On another note, I wanted to ask you if you are done with Duncan for the series, I have read both your books and they are fantastic. .I think that there is a lot of circumstantial evidence that Duncan MIGHT not be dead (although I highly doubt that he is alive)

David Gaider:

Duncan is dead. If he appears again, it would have to be in a story that takes place prior to Origins, if anything.

I understand where you are coming from, and I get your pespective, but we were somewhat limited in DA:O in terms of conversations, amd now you are limiting us even more. It may turn out well, I have never seen it, but I can sympasize for all the people that have doubts with the change, because I also have doubts.

I'll just point out that if you thought DA:O's conversations were limited, then the problem may be your expectations. There was more dialogue with each party member than any other game we've made -- BG2 included. All I'm suggesting is that some of that dialogue was pretty low impact, and possibly superfluous when it came to building a character.

Thank you for taking the time to personally respond in these forums.

Thanks, but I also suspect nobody's actually listening to me. All some people

are hearing is what they think isn't there, and that I'm here to put a

spin on things. So be it. Perhaps it's better to just let it be and

wait until the hand-wringing has run its course.
