Good. Duncan was a ******. He drafts people and killed whats his name merely for not wanting to do something crazy, the ritual. Never liked the fanatic. I was better off with his gear.
Jorey deserved to die...Oh gee Im gonna go fight the blight and be a grey warden!! Wait dying isnt in this equasion is it? I wanna go home now.
Sorry chumpola you made the choice more than once. You taunt death enough and death always wins.

The reason Duncan killed him, is Jory drew his sword on Duncan, AND the joining is a secret, can't have everyone knowing what its all about...
Ser Jory seemed to be a coward to me, all about the "looks" of things and not really man enough to do what it takes..to help stop the Blight.

The game states that Duncan died.
I'm sorry, but the way I see it, the game states nothing like that.
The codex entry is:
He was killed in battle against overwhelming numbers of darkspawn at Ostagar, alongside King Cailan.
Looks like a pretty clear statement to me.
Now people doubted the codex, saying that it was from the player character's point of view, and therefor not to be trusted completly. Accepted, doubt, even though I found that resoning a bit reaching for straws and wishful thinking.
Now the writer who created the character comes out and finally confirms that yes, he did die. But again we are not allowed to say Duncan is dead?
I have no problem with people who had their doubts before. The entertainment world has been flooded with "oh he isn't actually dead after all" plot twists. It's understandable that people need more proof of death as a result.
I may be bored by these choices, understand though that others aren't or that people may like a character enough to want the specific character to be the one that isn't dead after all.
But there comes a point where one should let a dead Duncan stay dead.

Who said you are not allowed? Well, some people did, but not me. As your reply quoted my -- rather long, I admit -- post, let me quote myself again.

Do I doubt Mr. Gaider's post? Of course not [...]
There you go, as realistic as I can be.
Oh, and edit: Indeed, the codex entries reflect the PC's point of you, which is why they shouldn't be considered the absolute truth.

No worries
I didn't mean to imply that you personaly didn't trust Mr. Gaider. It was more a generic, vending thing.

Depends on your character I guess.
My human noble hates Duncan's guts and is happy he's a goner.
My evil-ish human mage couldn't care less about the fate of Jory, that whiny coward. (She couldn't care less about Duncan either, though.)

Don't you know that the Spirit that binds with you when you become a Spirit-Warrior is Duncun?
Like Highlander he is immortal.

Gotta agree with you. Gotta say that it's always funny how many people say that he deserved to die simply because he didn't want to chance death by drinking darkspawn blood. I guess you wouldn't behave like that in real life, otherwise you are some evil little pricks.Stabbath123 wrote...

You like Duncan, but in the game, he was one more guy who pass away! Who knows, the darkspawns must eaten him in a rage of hungry. In the game, even if you don't like it...A ****ING KING IS MORE IMPORTANT!!

Duncan scores pretty high... and Gaider just confirmed he is deader than dead. Face it guys, he is never, ever coming back. Unless it's a prequel... or the warden sees obi-wan visions, or there is some kind of afterlife in the DAO universe....

But because his body wasnt an ostigar, even if that was an oversight, its done. So because of that we need closure on this important character,
Alistair needs to honor his death and so do we.
It cheapens the character to just have him declared dead without a body to honor.

You have that backwards...Duncan killed the ogre..hence his weapons in the ogre's chest. A whole swarm of darkspawn descended on Duncan after he killed the ogre and after he managed to drag himself over to the king's body.

Right, For the guys who think bringing duncan back alive would be bad, Ok fine, But we want duncan back in some form, either as a dead body to bury to honor, Or as a darkspawn to have 1 final talk with him then kill him or w/e to get his armor and then honor his body.
But because his body wasnt an ostigar, even if that was an oversight, its done. So because of that we need closure on this important character,

Well it would have been a great plot twist..but to bring him back but not "alive" as we knew him. It would have fit in with the dark themed world..but maybe Bioware doesn't have time for plot twists.
