Well, you could say the same for Darveth-most people don't consider themselves 'screwed' out of him. But then again-Bioware DID hype her out with her own movie, giving the expectation that she would be with you for the journey.

I can see it both ways.

Well Daveth never said to be a full companion and although he was cool he had a short part but in the Awakening ''she'' as you call shown as a full companion and after all hard earned gear and lvl you have to let ''her'' die ? That doesn't makes sense and seems like a total waste.



Why ?! This Joining sure knows how to ruin the games.

Eh. its not quite the same. Something similar would be if Leliana gets killed an hour after getting her - regardless of her fancy video introduction and everything. Now, if Daveth got his own video "release" back then I guess its the same.

I'm sure it got something to do with approval rating or personal quest, cause difference with jory and daveth, they couldn't lvl past lvl 3, couldn't get exp, couldn't give gifts to them.

Mhairi can lvl up, can give gifts too, i'm just guessing but why hype up a new char, to kill them off in less then a hour, it just isn't how bioware works.

Like I said in the spoilerific thread, until all of us get the game and see the same thing happen each playthrough to all of us, there is no reason to assume it is hard-wired that way.



It could just as easily be a dice roll, and any drinker who rolls a 6 or lower bites it - whatever. *shrugs* I'm not going to sweat it, though I will search for ways to circumvent it if possible.

It has nothing to do with a personal quest. It happens bout 30 minutes into the game at vigils

keep. I've only been able to talk to her once because I can't initiate conversation(dammit!). There were no choices that I made, if there were it wasn't anything obvious. I used all the conversation options I could when talking to her and everyone else.



The only thing I can think of that you get a choice in is letting anders join your party and if

oghdren can partake of the joining. Maybe if you don't do either of these she lives, dunno.



I personally think it's okay she died, it makes sense, someone has to. But I thought I did something wrong for that to happen so my initial reaction is I messed up.

random thought: what kinda PC toon were you playing? maybe if you're a warrior, one of the warriors dies, and similarly for rogues and mages. or, whatever you are, one of the similar companions can't be recruited, or doesn't survive?

It's at the very beginning of the game. You only have anders, mhari, and oghdren. The only choices you're given are if you save anders and if you let oghdren partake of the joining (I think you can refuse). It could be if you let anders burn mhari lives because you'll be short

a companion but I don't know. Don't have time to test tonight maybe someone else

does.

Oh I was a warrior, didn't read your post right. Could be that, I don't know.

I let Anders go with the templars and she still dies. Haven't try refusing Orghen but I think it's impossible.

So Bioware uses marketing trickery to make you think you're getting all these new companions for your $$, but really you get her for about 1/2 hour. I'm sorry, but not having paid for the expansion, I have to laugh. I bet it took a lot longer to post her bio and video than she actually had screen time in game. that is classic.

Who was that mage I got at the battle of ostagar, why wasn't he listed as a companion?

Even when I read this it sounds troll-like, but it really is funny. come on.

Death is a part of life. I don't care. I wasn't going to use her anyways. I like these kind of things in bioware games, makes it interesting. Of course people will whine and complain...but then they will play and not care anyways.
